Christmas traditions clash with HOA rules in this festive romantic comedy starring Lacey Chabert and Wes Brown. When Emily returns to her childhood home ready to spend the holidays with her parents, she’s stunned to learn they’ve traded Christmas in for a move to Florida. Left in charge of the house, she prepares for a quiet holiday. That is until Jared, Emily’s childhood friend turned HOA president, is determined to uphold the community’s over the top holiday standards. Emily suddenly finds herself swept into the season and discovers that the very rules she once resisted are what create lasting memories, heartfelt connections, and a holiday spirit that lingers long after the last violation notice is issued.

Amy

Welcome to Pour the Wine. It's rom-com time where we'll sip some wine and review all things. Rom-com on the Hallmark Channel Hi Mamie.

Garry

And I'm Gary, and I'm pouring, you better be pouring. I am.

Amy

Make it a good size pour.

Garry

Oh, you want a double shot.

Amy

Maybe Today we're a double shot, Maybe. Today we're reviewing Haul Out the Holly. It aired on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, November 26, 2022. You can find it from time to time on the Hallmark Channel, but it's always streaming on Hallmark Plus.

Amy

Yes, it is, and I have to say, the reason why we're dropping this on our Tinsel Tuesday for this week is because we had a recommendation from somebody on one of the socials that suggested that we do the haul out the Holly movie reviews, because haul out the Halloween is going to drop October 11th 2025, which is just a few short weeks away. It sure is, and we thought that was a great idea. So here we are. So here we are.

Garry

So we'd love it if you would click that follow button on your favorite podcast platform so you don't miss an episode.

Amy

If you like, or listen on Apple or.

Garry

Spotify you can also leave us a review, and on Spotify you can leave us stars.

Amy

Yes, you can.

Garry

You can also find us on YouTube and all social media.

Amy

Send us an email at pourthewineitsromcomtime at gmailcom and let us know your thoughts about the Hall Out, the Holly movies or anything Hallmark related, especially Hallmark Christmas movies, since we're dropping this one for Tinsel Tuesday. Let us know and maybe we'll read it on the pod. We'd love to hear from you.

Garry

Yes, we would.

Amy

Yes, we would.

Garry

So there's a lot of people.

Amy

in this one there are several actors and actresses in this one.

Garry

Well, while you're mentioning them, I'm going to take a sip of wine.

Amy

Okay, so normally what we do is we talk about each actor and we talk about their Hallmark work, and then I go in and usually name a few other of their work. Right A few other things that they've done, just things that stand out, or movies that we know or series that we know. But because there are so many and probably moving forward, I think we're going to focus on Hallmark. It's not that they don't have other work.

Amy

Right, I think we're going to focus on Hallmark. It's not that they don't have other work, because most of them, if not all of them, do, but we're just, you know, because we're a Hallmark review podcast, so we're going to focus on Hallmark.

Garry

That's right.

Amy

Lacey Chabert plays Emily. I mean, who doesn't love Lacey Chabert? Hello, I know right, she definitely comes by the Queen of Hallmark title, honestly, because I think this is her 42nd Hallmark movie. Wow, and that's a lot. We last saw her in An Unexpected Valentine during Love you, mary, 2025. Just a few of her other movies include the Christmas Quest, his and Hers, the sequel to this, of course, hall Out, the Holly lit up.

Garry

A.

Amy

Merry Scottish Christmas, the Wedding Veil movies, groundswell, crossword Mysteries, love Romance and Chocolate, and the list goes on and on. Celebrations with Lacey. Chabert actually just started airing its season two on the Hallmark Channel, I think last week, right. It's a series where Lacey honors individuals who've had a positive impact on their community, so that's pretty cool, that's pretty cool Season one aired last year on Hallmark Plus, of course, and then they brought it to the Hallmark Channel this year which I think is great, More people will get to see it.

Amy

She will also be in the highly anticipated Hall Out the Halloween, which I think is great. More people will get to see it. She will also be in the highly anticipated Hall Out the Halloween, which I just mentioned which will air on. Saturday, october 11th, at 8 pm Eastern Standard Time. Make plans to watch it?

Garry

Yeah, we got our popcorn and wine ready.

Amy

I would also like to note that Lacey has also teamed up with Hallmark and developed a product collection that will be launched during this holiday season, but I could not find a launch date as of yet. Man, but it's got to be soon.

Garry

I would think so we're already what mid-September?

Amy

Yeah, it will include items like wrapping paper cards, entertaining pieces, glassware, et cetera, et cetera et cetera. Wes Brown plays Jared, the Christmas HOA. President Wes has something like around 19 Hallmark gigs so far. He was in four Hallmark movies in 2024 alone, including Holiday Touchdown, A Chief's Love Story, Deck the Walls, Automate, Apple Hill and this one he was in. Oh, I'm sorry, this one would not be in 2024. This would have been in 2022.

Garry

Okay.

Amy

Excuse me. Yeah right, he was in one of our absolute faves at the very end Biltmore Christmas yes, yes, he's in the sequel to this Hall Out the Holly Lit Up and he was also in my Southern Family Christmas. He is going to be in Hall Out the Halloween as well, like we just mentioned, and he also has another countdown. Well, I guess Hall Out the Halloween isn't a countdown to Christmas movie, but he is going to be in a countdown to Christmas 2025 movie, a Newport Christmas with Gina Claire Mason, who was just in Hats Off to Love in May.

Garry

And we loved her in that. Yes, we did so.

Amy

I'm looking forward to seeing that one. Stephen Tobolowsky plays Ned. He's one of the neighbors in the cul-de-sac right, or one of the neighbors. He's been around, of course, forever and he has almost 300 acting credits. Oh, my goodness For Hallmark. He was in the sequel to this, the Hall he Lit Up and he will be in the upcoming Hall Out the Halloween. I did not see any other Hallmark work, but he does have 300 acting credits. Wow, Close to 300. So I skimmed it. I'll be honest. Okay, I didn't find anything. So if there is some other Hallmark work of his, let me know. I know we're focusing on Hallmark work, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention a few things he was in that we and I loved.

Amy

And there's one thing I don't know if you've seen or not, so he was in 43 episodes of the Goldbergs, a comedy series that just ended recently.

Amy

And it's so good, so funny, it's about the 80s's, so great. And he was also in several classic 90s films, like groundhog day with bill murray, and bill murray actually played a character called ned, and that's all I can think of is when he's like ned. Ned that steven told us and he goes. Is that you? Because he's trying to get bill murray's attention? Uh, he was also in thelma and louise, single white female and basic instinct. Okay, yeah, some pretty big ones. He was also in a 1994 film called my father the hero. Did you ever watch that?

Garry

no, I did not I love this one.

Amy

I would recommend everyone go watch it. It stars gerard de pardue and katherine heigl actually, okay, and she was around the age that she was playing. She was playing a teenager, and it's about a dad who lives in France, because you know Gerard Depardieu.

Amy

He's a French actor and he comes to pick her up and spend time with her and she doesn't really want to go and she kind of hates him a little bit and she's kind of mean. But he's taking her on this vacation to get closer to her and they go to some like resort area not the Bahamas but a place like that and people there start believing that she's his wife, his much younger wife, and Stephen Tobolowsky is in that and he plays kind of a similar character where he's kind of funny and quirky. But it's just such a great movie about the two of them and their relationship and yeah so just thought I would mention that.

Garry

Go watch it.

Amy

Go watch it. My Father the Hero, it's cute, cute, cute. Melissa Peterman plays Pamela. She's another neighbor. Her homework work includes Howl at the Holly Lit Up A Gingerbread Romance, and she was a judge in season one of Finding Mr Christmas. She will appear, of course, in Hall Out, the Halloween and season two of Finding Mr Christmas, which will air this year on the Hallmark Channel.

Garry

And we'll be reviewing.

Amy

And we will be reviewing it. Go watch season one. It is on Hallmark Plus right now. Yep, you can watch it. We see her practically every morning here in our household on the homework channel because they air the series reba and before we leave we turn on the homework channel for our little puppy. Yes, and she loves it, and reba is always on around the time that we're leaving, so it's kind of cool. She played Barbara Jean in 123 episodes of that series. Wow, pretty cool that's awesome.

Amy

Ellen Travolta plays Mary Louise, another neighbor. If her name sounds familiar, it's because she is in fact John Travolta's sister.

Garry

Uh-oh.

Amy

She was in Hall Out the Holly Lit Up and will be in Hall Out the Halloween Awesome. Peter Jacobson plays Albert, emily's dad. His other hallmark work includes Hall Out, the Holly Lit Up and A Cozy Christmas Inn. He will be in the upcoming Countdown to Christmas 2025 movie, christmas on Duty with Janelle Parrish Awesome. And Janelle Parrish was in Sugar Plummed another one of our absolute favorites. She's so cute. And Returnelle Parrish was in Sugar Plummed another one of our absolute favorites. She's so cute and Return to Office.

Garry

That's right. We really liked that one also.

Amy

Fans of the TV series House know him, of course, for his portrayal of Dr Chris Taub in 98 episodes.

Garry

Man.

Amy

Such a great series.

Garry

Yes, it was.

Amy

Another great series. Carrie Morgan plays Gail. That's Emily's. I put Emily's Gail Emily's mom. I wrote on my notes Emily's Gail. She does belong to Emily, so Peter Jacobson is Emily's dad and Cary Morgan plays her mom, Gail. She was in the Holly Lit Up and Holly and Ivy with Janelle Parrish, which is interesting. Yeah, it is and she will be in hall out the halloween. Now. I did not see peter jacobson who plays her dad. I did not see hall out the halloween as an upcoming film for him oh, wow so he might not be in it.

Amy

Oh, maybe schedules didn't work out or something could be eliza haya Hayes.

Amy

Mayor Mar plays Jessica, Emily's friend. Her Hallmark work includes Hall of the Holly lit up, hidden gems taking the reins. She will be in Hall out the Halloween next month and will be in a grand old Opry Christmas during Countdown to Christmas this year in 2025, which stars Nikki Deloach and Christopher Palaha Wow, and they just wrapped filming. I saw on their social media, so that's pretty cool. I'm excited to see that one also, which, of course, leads us into Christopher Palaha. He plays Kevin, Jessica's husband. He, of course, is a Hallmark staple. Some of his numerous Hallmark credits include the Christmas Quest, A Biltmore Christmas.

Garry

Yeah, which we just reviewed.

Amy

We Wish you a Merry Christmas, a Dickens of a Holiday, small Town Christmas. He plays, of course, travis Burke in the Mystery 101 movies, and he will be in A Grand Ole Opry Christmas, this countdown Christmas.

Garry

All right.

Amy

Walter Platts plays Bob, mary Louise's husband. He's actually done a lot of Christmas movies for other production companies, but for Hallmark his work includes Hall Out the Holly Lit Up Switched for Christmas. My Summer Prince, I'm Not Ready for Christmas and he will be in Hall Out the Halloween.

Garry

Cool, that's awesome.

Amy

Laura Wardle plays Belinda, jared's mom. She has seven acting credits for hallmark. She was in the sequel haul out the holly lit up and she will be in haul out the halloween man. And I have to mention eric mabeus makes a small brief appearance in this film.

Amy

Fans also known as the Postables of Signed, sealed, delivered. Know and love him as Oliver O'Toole in both the series and the movies he returns in Howl Out, the Holly Lit Up, he was also in. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas. Welcome to Christmas Reading, writing and Romance and how to Fall in Love. And we know and love him from Ugly Betty.

Garry

Ugly Betty.

Amy

Ugly Betty.

Garry

Another good series.

Amy

Yes, an excellent series actually. Yes, it was. So that's a wrap for me. I'm done.

Garry

Oh my goodness, that was a lot of actors.

Amy

That was just their Hallmark, focused on their Hallmark work.

Garry

Well, thank goodness we would have been here all night.

Amy

I know.

Garry

All right. So Hall Out. The Holly was directed by McLean Nelson. He has directed several Hallmark favorites, including the Magic of Lemon Drops.

Amy

Oh, we love that one, which was really good.

Garry

Yeah, we love that one Branching Out, of course. Hall Out the Holly Lit Up A Heidelberg Holly and Christmas in Vienna.

Amy

A Heidelberg Holly Holiday.

Garry

It says Holly, oh might be holiday Holiday.

Amy

Might have been, might be.

Garry

Holiday Holiday. Might have been mistyped. Yeah, my bad.

Amy

We'll have to look it up.

Garry

He also directed the upcoming Hall Out the.

Amy

Halloween. The Halloween coming up.

Garry

Yes, hall Out the Holly was written by Andy Sandberg. He has four writing credits, including this movie, and they're all the Hallmark, four Hallmark.

Amy

Tongue twisters today.

Garry

Tongue twisters His other works include All Out, the Holly Lit Up Five More Minutes and Moments Like these. Jeremy Herman is also credited as a writer because the movie is based on the song he wrote we Need a Little Christmas. Yes, we do Right now. Yeah, he wrote the song for his Broadway musical Mame. It was first performed by Angela Lansbury in that 1966 production.

Amy

That's pretty cool. I always thought it was called Hall Out the Holly. I guess I've never really thought about the title of the song. Right, it's actually called we Need a Little Christmas, but since it starts out with that's kind of cute.

Garry

I like it.

Amy

All right.

Garry

Want to get into first take. Should we drop the synopsis?

Amy

Oh, we got to do it. Now I did it. Oh my gosh, Usually it's you. Let me take a sip, oh my gosh.

Garry

Yeah, usually it's you who forgets, Ah darn it. I was on such a good streak Finally.

Amy

Yay, finally, it's me. Yes, it's time to drop the synopsis.

Garry

Yes, so go for it.

Amy

Emily arrives home hoping to visit her parents, only to find they are going on a trip of their own While she stays at her house for the holidays. Her HOA is determined to get Emily involved in the neighborhood Christmas festivities.

Garry

Who likes an HOA?

Amy

Yeah, we could talk about that too.

Garry

We'll probably give away some spoilers, so if you haven't watched it yet, go watch it and then come back and listen to our review.

Amy

Or listen to the review, find out you really have to see it and then go watch it.

Garry

There you go, there you go, but just know, we give away spoilers.

Amy

Yes, spoilers.

Garry

There you go. So now you want to get into first take, now you want to get into it.

Amy

What was your first take? What did you think?

Garry

I really, really liked this one. Yes, yeah, I mean just the neighborhood vibe. I like how they all come together.

Amy

Yeah, what a picturesque cul-de-sac, by the way.

Garry

Oh my gosh, With the snow and the mountains in the background and the backdrop.

Amy

Yeah, go ahead, sorry.

Garry

And this kind of reminded me of Christmas with the Cranks. Yeah, a little bit yeah. Because Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis want to go on a summer vacation instead of doing Christmas in the neighborhood and all the neighbors are all upset. Yeah, so that's where it kind of reminds me of Because Lacey Chabert. She doesn't want to partake it first Because she was under the impression that she was going to be spending Christmas with her parents, but her parents were like no, here's the keys. Bye, we're in Florida.

Amy

Well, they tried to get her there first. Right, they're like, no, just come, and then they leave.

Garry

And then just you know, the side story of the love between her and Jarrett, the romance story, the romance. I just thought it was good. Yeah, it was really cute. Romance. I just thought it was good. Yeah, what about you? What?

Amy

did you think I have to say one thing about Christmas with the Cranks, though?

Garry

Yes.

Amy

Do you know that was actually called? It's based on a book called Skipping Christmas by John Grisham. Oh.

Garry

John Grisham. Uh-huh, he wrote a.

Amy

Christmas one. I just have to say that, because that kind of goes, that's with what you were saying. They're basically skipping, they're going to go, her parents are going to skip christmas there and go to florida, and it's a christmas that they have built up right over the years that they've lived there, right they? Live that's her childhood home and they've yeah what built up the activities and the hoa, the christmas hoa you know where they have all these?

Garry

rules and regulations her dad was the hoA president Right for Christmas yeah.

Amy

So yeah, I thought it was cool, but anyway, I Like you, I really enjoyed it. You know we watched it when it aired. Of course we didn't have the podcast yet and we've seen it and the sequel several times over the years Sometimes it's just on and we just, you know, put it on.

Amy

But I do enjoy it every time we watch because it's just such a fun, lighthearted holiday film that doesn't take itself so seriously. It's very tongue-in-cheek. Yes, it is A lot of it. It has heart, of course, and there's the romance part of it, but it's really a lot about the neighbors, the neighborhood the friendship, the realization of know, wow, my parents did a great thing. You know, I thought they were being pushy, but really, people love that you know like that which I'll talk about a little bit more.

Amy

So, yeah, I I really, I really enjoy this one. Well good, a lot well good because so did I, so did you.

Garry

Okay, we're samers good, all right, so you want to get into favorite, favorite scenes.

Amy

Favorite scenes. Are we going to keep it to three, or do you have more than three?

Garry

I have four, but we'll just go with it, yeah.

Amy

I have four and then one additional one.

Garry

That's so funny. You say that because I said the same thing. All right, you go first.

Amy

Four favorite scenes, and and then one I'm just throwing in because I just have to, because I can't stand it.

Garry

I know, go ahead, go for it.

Amy

But it is. It makes my heart, you know, happy. All right, I liked all the violation notice scenes. That's my first one, it's really yeah. So at the beginning, you know, jared shows up at Emily, so that's sort of the meet cute, right? Only they know each other, right, only they know each other. But he shows up there to talk to her, but he's actually writing a violation to her, or you know, because she's in violation of what? Not having any decorations outside. Is that the first one? Yeah, so I just thought it was funny and cute. And that's when she finds out he's the new president of the hoa, you know, and he's got like big shoes to fill of her father and I just enjoyed that. And then later he shows up and lets her know that she's in violation of the nutcracker code.

Garry

Oh yeah.

Amy

Because she doesn't have a nutcracker out Right, so she brings out like a little baby one A little figurine. And she's like here's the nutcracker, and then she rips up the violation. I thought it was just really cute. You know the banter and stuff.

Garry

But then he gives her another violation because she ripped up the violation she ripped up the violation.

Amy

Yeah, he does. So I just thought that was you know, and he takes it. So he's really you know, he's really serious about it, right and yeah. So anyway, I can go on about him in this, and just Wes Brown played him so well. Right so so well right so, so well.

Garry

And it's funny because he then gives her community service, which is to help the neighbors set up right santa claus sled with the reindeers which I thought was funny. That was cute yeah, um, so that was one of mine too. Another one was when, when ned finds out he gets third place for the cookie contest, he is like so excited and he's jumping up and down For third place, for third place. See, you know what People love.

Amy

They don't care, they just having fun right.

Garry

He came in third.

Amy

Although Pamela would not have been happy with third place, no, and she was funny because she was acting like she wasn't going to get it and she was all teary-eyed and choked up.

Garry

You know, give me a speech and she actually won, which I thought was funny, Was funny. And then they show I think it was Emily and Jared, or no, Emily and her friend.

Amy

Jessica.

Garry

Jessica are walking down the hallway and there's pictures of Pamela.

Amy

She put it up of all the times she won the cookie contest.

Garry

That's cute. So, yes, that was good. What about you? What's another one?

Amy

This one's kind of brief. When Emily first goes to the board meeting because they're saying, you know, because her parents are there, she has to fill in or whatever so she has to go and they're talking about things that they have to do and she says you know, at the board meeting I actually don't have to do any of this.

Garry

Yeah.

Amy

And they're all like oh, and they like. I thought that was such a cute moment because you know, if you, if you live in a neighborhood with an HOA and we do now, I never have before in the past and there is so much pearl clutching and drama. That is funny. Now this is, you know, a little bit lighter because it is about Christmas, but it just reminded me that.

Amy

Oh my gosh where we live and you know there are violations where we live and you know, when you move into an HOA you kind of sign up for that, Although it feels like the Christmas HOA was developed over time, but I just thought that that was cute. Yeah, Because they're all like how dare you say you're not going to do this? It's Christmas and the thing is about her, which I really enjoyed too is she just wants to enjoy. It's not like she hates Christmas.

Garry

Right.

Amy

She's not a scrooge. She's not like she hates christmas, right? She's not a screwed. She's not trying to, you know, poo-poo anyone else. She just wants to relax and enjoy it and she doesn't want to be so regimented in things, right she's come from her job in the big city. You know she's come home and she just wants to chill, she wants to watch movies, she wants to have hot chocolate. She doesn't want to have to do all the rule things and the you know the planning and all that. So, yeah, what about you?

Garry

another scene um, this one is with pamela again where um emily's over there helping her like thread popcorn she said use your little baby. She said yeah, she said you're, you will be good at this because you have. You have little baby hands. And then you hear Emily. She pricked herself and it was so funny because, uh, Pamela tells Emily to push through the pain.

Amy

Cause she pricked herself with it.

Garry

Yeah, so I thought that was that was pretty fun oh my gosh.

Amy

I really liked when um Jared has his. Uh, is it ugly sweater and white elephant? Is that the same night?

Garry

Yes.

Amy

Okay, you're right. So he has that party and when Emily shows up and she pulls out the camera and he's like, he reminds me of like elf, you know, because he's so like giddy. Now he's regimented, he's like following the rules, but he just loves it. You know, and she's excited that she's going to take pictures and I just thought that you know. And then when they're singing and Pamela does a solo, she's doing oh Holy Night I know, it's terrible, it's bad.

Garry

It's so bad.

Amy

And then I loved his sweater. It was like green with the garland all over it yeah. Like I, just I love that whole, you know. And then Ned, speaking of Ned, one of the gifts is a condensation meter.

Garry

Yes.

Amy

Because he's like a scientific guy and so I just thought that whole the ugly Christmas sweater slash white elephant party. I loved that whole scene.

Garry

Yeah, I thought it worked. That was a good scene, and some sweaters were kind of cute.

Amy

I mean I would wear them out probably.

Garry

I know right.

Amy

What some people call ugly.

Garry

I call cute, I have no shame in my game, yeah. So what about? Do you have any more?

Amy

Well, do you have?

Garry

Well, I have. One of my added ones was when Jarrett was playing with the Santa Claus figurine. Oh yeah, and the Nutcracker figurine, yeah, and I love it because you see this in a lot of shows and he's like what did he say, santa, I am your father.

Amy

The Nutcracker to Santa.

Garry

Yeah.

Amy

The little mini.

Garry

Nutcracker that she had. Yeah, it was funny, that was funny.

Amy

Well, and then when she leaves the room, he gets him back out, yeah Right, or she has to Jared's house and she gives him the mini nutcracker.

Garry

Right.

Amy

And he's kind of like acting like he doesn't want it.

Garry

Right, because he's upset about the Santa Claus thing Right.

Amy

She did not ask him to be Santa in their Christmas festival Carnival. Carnival and his feelings are hurt and she didn't realize that his feelings would be hurt by that. So she goes to kind of apologize and she gives him the that his feelings would be hurt by that. So she goes to kind of apologize and she gives him the mini nutcracker and he acts like he doesn't want it and then she tells him it has sentimental value. It's what started to get her into the spirit, because that was what we just talked about, right?

Amy

at the beginning the mini nutcracker. Um, and then she tells him she's had the best week because of him and then he softens up and I just thought that was real cute because he's trying to act like all and he's not even mad, it's like a little kid mad. You know like I'm going to be mad at you, but I really want the Nutcracker.

Garry

And he's like go ahead, Say more.

Amy

Say more. Yeah, I'm listening. He was so good in that scene, I just thought it was really cute. And then she's like I'm just a girl standing in front of a boy asking him to be the most perfect Santa Claus and he's like I thought you'd never ask. And then he gets all excited and giddy, yeah. So I loved loved, loved that yeah.

Garry

And my last one was the charades party.

Amy

That he had. Yes.

Garry

And it kind of shot that one outside.

Amy

Yeah, that was pretty cool. It was like a brief, a quick yeah.

Garry

And it had Christopher Palaha, and he references well what yeah, yeah, go ahead.

Amy

No, what were you going to say?

Garry

Is this one of your favorite ones?

Amy

Yeah, that's my last favorite one my additional one.

Garry

Well then you talk about it because you picked it out, though. Okay, so anyways. So Palaha is Jessica's husband, kevin, and what a cameo, right.

Amy

Right right.

Garry

And he references, like he did in Biltmore, jimmy Stewart, and I thought that was so cool.

Amy

Yeah.

Garry

And then you did some research on him, right, yeah, and what'd you find out?

Amy

Well, let's go back to the quote for a minute.

Garry

Okay, can we? Yeah, you do the quote, since you brought it up.

Amy

Yeah well, so I had forgotten that. He did the Jimmy Stewart quote in hull out the holly right we just saw it. We just reviewed a bit more christmas and I had remembered it from there, right, because we watched that one at first air and then we just reviewed it. That's our last. In fact, that's our last tinsel tuesday review, right, and we talked about that, and now you know, uh, my love for jimmy stewart just is beyond you know that right, I mean I just so.

Amy

When he did that in biltmore I was like, oh my gosh, I love him. Um, and then, and it's, it's so cool because, like you said, it's a, it's a scene where they're pulling away and it shot and you don't even really see him say it. I mean you can see him stand up and he does um.

Amy

He says you know you want the moon, just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down right that's not the exact quote, of course, from the movie, not that I'm being particular, and maybe they couldn't actually quote it because then you'd have to right you know, pay for it because it's in a film, a classic film. But I was just like I. That's our all-time favorite classic holiday movie we have other favorites, but for for sure it's a Wonderful Life, watched it as a kid and when he did that I was like oh. So then I looked it up and I'm like it's got to be a thing with him.

Garry

Right.

Amy

Because now we've seen it in two movies. It may be in others. I just don't know yet or haven't realized, and I found an interview with him where he said jimmy stewart was his favorite and it's a wonderful life is his favorite. Oh, christopher, samers, we're samers. You might be my new favorite, that's funny, so anyway. But it is such a brief scene but we just loved it because of the sentimental value and right, all that jazz.

Garry

So all right. Did you have any more cheers or?

Amy

favorite scenes. That's it for favorite scenes.

Garry

All right. Well, let's move on to cheers.

Amy

Okay, cheers, cheers.

Garry

Go ahead. One of mine was just the whole neighborhood vibe, just neighbor helping neighbor, yeah, and the scene where they all come together and help her decorate.

Amy

Yeah, because he gets on the walkie talkie. Oh yeah, you see, operation Manor. Whatever her name is, I can't think of her last name right now, manor.

Garry

Yeah, I thought that was so cool.

Amy

And they all come to help. Yeah, that was cool.

Garry

So that was one of my cheers. That was cool.

Amy

I really liked the banter the banter between Emily and Jared, the banter between Emily and Pamela, and then Emily and the board members. I just I thought it was well-written. You know we had some funny comments, so I just that would be a big cheer from me.

Garry

Well, I also have another one, and it was the ugly sweater party where he took a selfie of them again.

Amy

Oh, yes, and he put it up with the before and after when they were young kids.

Garry

That was cool and it was kind of almost the same pose.

Amy

Yeah, yes, and he put it up with the before and after when they were young kids.

Garry

That was cool and it was kind of almost the same pose.

Amy

Yeah, yeah, I thought that was so cool. That was cool.

Garry

It's kind of like a full circle kind of.

Amy

Thing.

Garry

And then I'll go ahead and do my last one. Oh, okay, well, no, you go. I have a few you might have this one.

Amy

So another funny as Melissa Peterman oh my goodness she. She had so many great lines in this and the way she acted in this, like so Jared is late with the tree lighting and they're all standing around right and the cul-de-sac and Pamela's. Like this never happened when your parents were in charge. I don't want to blame you, but I am you know, there's. There's another time where she says um cause Emily says something about them being neighbors and she's like actually we're not neighbors, it's your parents' house.

Garry

I know right.

Amy

And then another time when she says Emily was supposed to meet her at four but she's late, of course, because she had the hot chocolate with. Jared and everything, and so she's a little late and Emily shows up and, and pamela, she's kind of mad right, she's a little bit irritated and she's like I thought we said four and I mean and, and emily's like we did say four ish right around four we did say around four and pamela's like is 523, four is 523 around four.

Amy

Yeah, you know, that's when she's like come on in and use your cute little baby that was a good one so, and then um, and then, of course, when she wins the cookie contest and she breaks down crying like she just won an oscar I know I thought that was pretty funny, so I appreciate this is a melissa peterman appreciation cheer. You know she's so good in it's funny she's really good um.

Garry

My last year is when um emily pulls strings with her ex dan yeah, um to fly his husband back home because all the flights were booked and right and you know that it was snowing played by yes, I was getting ready to say. And her husband, alan, is played by eric maybe. He comes on the scene Right, so I just thought that was cool that you know they all helped her out. Yeah, and she turned around and helped Pamela out.

Amy

That was cool, emily. That's why I said it was like funny tongue in cheek but had there was heart, but it wasn't like you're not like crying over it, right, it's just light and like heartfelt yeah feel good movie really, I really enjoyed it.

Amy

Um, I liked when. Another cheer for me is when emily's cozied up on her couch and she turns on the tv. And it's christmas in vienna right the hallmark movie with sarah drew and brendan elliott. I always love those little easter eggs like that. And then just overall, we kind of touched on it, the messaging, like when I think Emily says this to Jared, where she's talking about the chair Right, isn't she the one who she says this is not just a chair, it's where reality is suspended. Or does he say that?

Garry

One of them says it.

Amy

One of them says it. And then they say, where children still believe in magic, right? And I thought that that was so. I just loved that quote.

Garry

Yeah.

Amy

I loved that quote about Santa's chair because you know we're huge Christmas fans and we go all out and you know we go a little crazy and I just that one line for me was just perfect, especially now the world is heavy, and I just thought that that was cool.

Amy

We need to keep children, still children they still believe in it and you know, so I thought that was cool. And then when emily, during the hot chocolate scene, emily admits that she thought her parents were pushy, you know, making everyone follow all those christmas rules and activities and writing up the violations, but then she said she realizes that people wanted to do it.

Garry

Right.

Amy

And they like it and they have fun and even though it's regimented, you know so. And then that's when Jared tells her. You know, your parents really gave neighbor some amazing memories throughout the years and she hadn't really thought about it that way, yeah, so.

Garry

Cool.

Amy

All right, so that was my last y'all.

Garry

Did you have any jeers?

Amy

I did not.

Garry

Me either. Did you have any?

Amy

No, I had no notes. No.

Garry

None at all, all right.

Amy

So what was your tinsel topped moment?

Garry

I think just when well, there's probably a couple when the neighborhood got together to help out Emily decorate.

Amy

Yeah, that was cool.

Garry

And then when Emily helped Alan get home for Pamela.

Amy

Yeah.

Garry

Those were my two.

Amy

What about you? It would probably be the last violation that's written. Is Emily writing it to Jared? And what does it say? Kiss me or something.

Garry

Yeah, it says something like kiss me.

Amy

I thought that was very, very good yeah she says kiss me, and then they kiss and then it goes back to her narration, which I thought was pretty, was pretty cool. I like that. And then I really liked the scene where she goes to ask him to be Santa yeah. I just love that. I loved her I loved her in that, I loved his reactions in that and the way they played it out.

Garry

I thought was was really cool, so that those would be my tinsel top moments all right, so so at a five ornaments, how many would you put on the tree?

Amy

I would do a solid four. Really enjoyed it. What about you?

Garry

I was gonna go with a four or five a four and a half yeah, oh I thought you said four or five. I was like oh, four, point four and five.

Amy

I gotcha, gotcha four and a half. Oh, okay, that's what I'm gonna. That's really good for you.

Garry

Yeah, I enjoyed it I enjoyed it, so is that a wrap? That's a wrap. All right, if you really really like the show. We would really really appreciate your positive review on apple podcast or spotify. We would and if you didn't really really like this show, we'd still appreciate your positive review.
