Welcome to Pour the Wine. It's rom com time where we'll sip some wine and review all things rom com on the Hallmark Channel. I'm Amy.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Gary.
SPEAKER_00And I'm drinking a Chardonnay tonight.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we are.
SPEAKER_00We poured the Chardonnay. We poured the Chardonnay. We have a few things to talk about, don't we, before we dive into this review? Yeah, just a couple things. Yeah, just a couple things. We'll talk about an email that we received and a couple of upcoming Hallmark projects, but we will keep it brief so we can get into that review.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_00Yep. So the email we received from Steven, I wanted to mention the first part of the email that he sent, um, because he talks about mistletoe murders, which we love. He says, I love mistletoe murders. Second season a bit better than season one. Her, meaning Sarah Drew slash Emily Lane, her narration is a great way to see her thinking. They have great chemistry. Always liked Sarah Drew. So so have we for sure.
SPEAKER_02I agree.
SPEAKER_00I found Hallmark before COVID, maybe 2018, and it was their mystery channel that hooked me. This show is better than other mystery series they produced. And that's really interesting because I know a lot of people, you know, watch the mysteries, the mystery, they have the Hallmark Mystery Channel, and we haven't really watched too many. We watched the most recent Hannah Swenson, A Pie to Die For.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Mystery. Which was good. I mean Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we really enjoyed that one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And we watched a couple of the um Science Hill Deliver movies.
SPEAKER_00Right. We're making our way through that canon. So we've seen, yeah, we've seen it. And those are considered mysteries. Yeah. So we've only seen a few, but it's interesting to hear, you know, a lot of people really love mistletoe murders, but it's great to know that we're, you know, in good company as far as mystery goes and we're on track on what we like.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01And we're still trying to come up with a name. You know, you have the Hardee's. Yes. You have the Heinese.
SPEAKER_00That's right. For the mistletoe murders fans. Oh gosh. If you have any ideas out there, let us know. We'll give you credit.
SPEAKER_01You know, I don't want to say missiles.
SPEAKER_00Where are the missiles? The missile mistletoes. No, that doesn't work. You don't want to say that doesn't work. I don't know. You don't want to do the murders. Yeah, that would be they they definitely need one. They for sure. Yeah, you have the parties, the postables, the hineys, right? Yeah. Mistletoe murders definitely needs a hashtag nickname for sure.
SPEAKER_01For sure. If you're out there listening or watching, help us out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. And thanks, Steven, for letting us know that about mistletoe murders. We totally agree with you. Although, I mean, we really enjoyed season one also, but season two really picked it up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they did. And I'm looking forward to season three.
SPEAKER_00I hope if they get one, we're hoping. Fingers crossed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because they you know they introduced Crimea and now we know who the leader is.
SPEAKER_00I know, I know. They have lots more story to tell. Lots more story to tell. We should start listening to the podcast.
SPEAKER_01You know what?
SPEAKER_00The mistletoe market.
SPEAKER_01We should.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, maybe we'll do that. We'll add that to our list.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, let's do it.
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_00So thank you again, Steven. Yes, if you would like to send us an email, you can send one to Pour the Wine. It's romcomtime at gmail.com and let us know your thoughts about our podcast, any of the Hallmark movies we're reviewing, Hallmark series. Just let us know. We'll be happy to respond and read it on the air. And if you have some criticisms, hopefully they're constructive criticisms and not mean.
SPEAKER_01Hey.
SPEAKER_00We've seen a few mean ones. It's fine. It's okay.
SPEAKER_01You know, we can take it.
SPEAKER_00Everybody, yeah, we we could take it. We could take it. But you know, it is what it is. Keep it constructive. So I guess we could talk about the Hallmark news that's coming up, and we haven't discussed it yet. I mean, a lot of people, it's been out there now for what, a month or a month or so for for each thing. So first, which one do you want to talk about first?
SPEAKER_01Uh, the big one.
SPEAKER_00Well, they're both big.
SPEAKER_01Okay, the one down in Florida. How about that?
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. The one down in Florida. So, as everybody, as you probably have heard, they are, I don't know if they're done filming or not, but they were filming at Walt Disney World Resort, and it's going to be starring Lacey Shaber and Travis Van Winkle. It will be part of the Countdown to Christmas 2026 lineup.
unknownI know.
SPEAKER_00Holiday Ever After, a Disney World Wish Come True.
SPEAKER_01Man, that now that's a title.
SPEAKER_00Now that's a title. And it makes you wonder because they do this, you know, holiday touchdown, a Bill's Love Story. So they change the second part. So I'm wondering Holiday Ever After is going to be a title, and then they're going to just change that second half of that year to year. What do you think?
SPEAKER_01Well, I I think you may be right. And we'll just have to stay tuned, right?
SPEAKER_00Well, my wish came true at Disney World. We're big Disney fans here. Big. I have been, I went, I was fortunate enough to go many times when I was growing up. Um, my kids, our kids have been several times and they love Disney. And almost as much as we do, maybe not as much, but almost as much as we do.
SPEAKER_01And that's where I propose.
SPEAKER_00That is where we got engaged. Yes. On Main Street. On Main Street on Christmas Day. So we have a we have a big um, you know, affinity for Walt Disney World. I cannot wait. Cannot wait to see the movie. The plot that they have listed so far says, and this I'm sure might be subject to change. Lindsay and Philip, who had a terrible first date, keep running into each other at Walt Disney World during Christmas, and their rivalry turns to romance with a little magic.
SPEAKER_01Now, what are the odds of running into each other? Not just one time, but several times, right?
SPEAKER_00And especially if you've had like something that didn't work, you know, and it's a little awkward or whatever. Yeah, yeah. Even though it's packed, it's like, you know, it's a small world after all. Yeah. Ah, see what I did there. See what I did there.
SPEAKER_01I guess you're in the right place at the right time.
SPEAKER_00That's right. That's right. Hopefully, um, I mean, I can't wait. I I wonder if it'll air in November or December. I I'm I'm already excited. And as you can see, if you're watching on YouTube, we actually still have our trees up. Our Christmas trees are up just for this announcement. All the rest of our decorations are down. We're getting there. We're getting there.
SPEAKER_01We're kind of, you know, it was funny because you didn't go down without a fight. You did ask me, are you are you gonna turn the tree on? I'm like, well, we're gonna talk about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I did. I didn't they're the last to fall in our house, the trees. They just look so pretty. I don't want to take it down.
SPEAKER_01I know it's it's hard to take it down.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So the second uh big news from Hallmark was they're going to be filming a second. I I don't know the title of that one, if it's going to be a Biltmore Christmas.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Again, if it will be the same title, maybe they'll add something after it. I'm not sure. But that is going to star Holland Roden and Nile Matter.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And they are filming right now.
SPEAKER_01I know. As we speak.
SPEAKER_00And it's at the Biltmore in Asheville, North Carolina.
SPEAKER_01And it's so weird because we've been there.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01And I know we've seen some pictures or you've seen some pictures online, and it's like, oh, we were standing right there. It's it's kind of cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. It's very cool. And in fact, truth be told, we had tickets to go this past Christmas season in 2025. And something happened that we were not able to go, which we were really bummed about because when we went before, we went in the spring.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00So, and it's beautiful. I mean, I want to go each season. You know, I want to go in the fall.
SPEAKER_01I want to go and it was that garden on the on the hillside. Oh, how beautiful. And the greenhouse.
SPEAKER_00If you have never been to the Biltmore estate, go, go, go. And I know they're, you know, they were hit, you know, the Biltmore luckily what ended up being relatively okay. Some of the grounds got damaged during Hurricane Helene. Um, was it Helene? Helen. Helene, I think it was Helene. But the hurricane that just went through um a couple years ago. But you know, Asheville was, you know, the whole area really was was devastated and they're rebuilding. And I know they want people to come. They're trying to, you know, gen back up the tourism and everything. And we had gone several years ago, maybe in like what 2018 or 2019 or so. But um, but go. If you get a chance to go, it is worth it. It's beautiful. And we our tickets for the Christmas candlelight tour are still good. We just have to use them by the end of next year. So we are going next year.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01And guess what?
SPEAKER_00We are gonna get or this year. I guess it's this year. 2026, yes.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and guess what else? After you finish your tour, if you do it in the afternoon, they have a nice little vineyard that you can go and have a winery, have some wine, they have a little village and a winery.
SPEAKER_00That's right. And we were all about that when we were there, that's for sure. We definitely missed that. But that's really, I mean, it's gonna be interesting to see what they do. I know it's gonna be a different story. I believe it's the same writer that wrote the um the first one. So, and we loved that, so we're apt to really probably love this one as well. It's just the first one was so popular, right? You know, but I mean, they can do it. We really liked, you know, holiday touchdown of Bill's love story.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00After the popularity of the first one, you know. So I mean, which was a good surprise for me. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I wasn't sure how that one was going to turn out, but it was a good one.
SPEAKER_00Same. And Helen Roden was great in that. And we can't wait to see her and Iomatter in the newest Biltmore Christmas.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So some exciting news out of Hallmark that we're really excited about. Should we dive into it now?
SPEAKER_01Let's do it. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_00All right. Today we're going to be reviewing the second winter escape movie of 2026, A Melbourne Match. It originally aired on the Hallmark channel on Saturday, January 10th, 2026. And you can find it streaming right now on Hallmark Plus.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you can. And, you know, for those of you who like to listen to podcasts, you can find Pour the Wine It's RonCon Time on Apple or Spotify or pretty much any other uh podcast platform. Yeah, because I think we're pushing it out to most of them.
SPEAKER_00Most of them, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But if you like to watch and listen, you can find us over on YouTube at Pour the Wine, it's RonCon Time. And don't forget to click that subscribe uh subscribe button so that you don't miss any of our episodes.
SPEAKER_00Don't miss a thing.
SPEAKER_01Because you don't want to.
SPEAKER_00Did you already talk about reviewing stars? Five stars.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you can yes, and please leave us a review. Yeah. Five stars. We would love to do that. That would be great.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01We like to have fun on this podcast, right?
SPEAKER_00We we do. We do. We're sipping, yeah, sipping and drinking. But and if you like the podcast, share it with a friend. If you know people who like Hallmark, everybody's sort of looking for an escape these days, and it is just a way to sit down and chill and enjoy something that's light, not too serious. Sometimes they have some, I mean, they have serious messages, you know, sometimes, but you can just enjoy it and you don't have to worry about anything else for that hour and a half or whatever it is.
SPEAKER_01Especially if you have that long ride into work in the morning or the afternoon and you're coming back home. Put it on. Listen.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there you go.
SPEAKER_01Put so you want to tell us who's in this one?
SPEAKER_00This one. Mallory Jansen plays Georgie. Mallory has she is an Australian-born actress, but I believe she lives in Los Angeles. She has been in a handful of homework films, including The Royal Wee, All I Need for Christmas, Paging Mr. Darcy, Her Pin Pal, and The 12th Date of Christmas with Tyler Hines, which we just watched for the first time. I I want to say this year, but we I keep forgetting we're in 2026. Last year in 2025.
SPEAKER_01And what's crazy is we're already through almost halfway through January.
SPEAKER_00We sure are. Ryan Korr plays Zach. This is Ryan's first Hallmark appearance. He's an uh, but he is an Australian actor with over 50 acting credits, including there's a more recent movie called Kangaroo. And I have to just say this part. I watched a little interview with him talking about Kangaroo, and it just looks so cute. He's a weatherman who gets stranded and ends up rehabilitating young Joeys, as they say.
SPEAKER_01Joey.
SPEAKER_00Young kangaroos. And it just looks so cute. You and I are gonna have to watch that. That's a little plug for Ryan's movie Kangaroo. Anywho, he was also in House of Dragons and The Secrets She Keeps, several episodes of each of those.
SPEAKER_01Oh wow. House of Dragons, huh?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. And Jessica, Jessica Clark plays Emma. She is Georgie's sister. Guyton, hopefully I'm pronouncing that correctly. If I'm not, I'm sorry. Guyton Grantly plays Scott, which is Zach's mate slash friend. I'm gonna try not to use the Australian accent too much, but you can't help it, right?
SPEAKER_02I know.
SPEAKER_00Alintha Chidsdy plays Maeve, Scott's wife, and she is actually a singer-songwriter, which she sings during the movie. She originated the role of say, I think it's Say Teen in Moulin Rouge for Australia's national tour of Moulin Rouge. Yeah. That's pretty cool. Remy Ashton plays Eric, Georgie's coworker/slash assistant. I don't know if he's her assistant. Okay. Christopher Kirby plays Morris, Georgie's boss. And Danny Minogue plays herself. She is the sister of Kylie Minogue. She's um she's the she plays the talk show host in a Melbourne Match.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. That's it, that's pretty good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, a Melbourne Match was directed by Colin Buds. Colin is an Australian director and has been directing for more than 40 years. And I didn't see any Hallmark work for him, but I did see that he has directed a few rom-coms.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. For other Us.
SPEAKER_01Including A Vintage Christmas, Romance at the Vineyard, and Christmas Keepsake. And guess what? What? Christmas Keepsake starred Daniel Lissing.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00And Daniel Lissing, which we just found out, is an Australian actor. Had no idea. Had no clue. Blew my mind because we just started watching Wind Calls the Heart.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00He doesn't have an Australian accent in that. Plays a Canadian mount, or is it Canada? Yeah. Plays a Mountie.
SPEAKER_01Yep. A Mounty.
SPEAKER_00A Mountie. Yeah, but I blew my mind when we heard his accent.
SPEAKER_01You know, it's so interesting because you never know anymore. And it yeah. And there are a lot of like British and Canadian and Australian actors that I would have never guessed that that's where they were from until you hear an interview.
SPEAKER_00Because they nail that American accent, don't they? Yeah. And we just saw Daniel Lissing in um Single on the 25th, which is so good from this year's Count On to Christmas. Last year's, sorry. 22th.
SPEAKER_01I know we keep saying this year. It'll soon be this year.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_01That was fine. Well, guess what? Mallory Jansen, she was the writer of this A Melbourne match. Yeah. This is her first credit as a writer. Congratulations. You did a really good job. Um, she said in an Instagram post that she wanted to write a rom-com that was set in her hometown of Melbourne, and I did not know she was from there.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_01Because another one that you wouldn't know was Australian.
SPEAKER_00I mean, we reviewed the Royal Wii, but I don't know if we mentioned that or not. Again, we'd have to go back. That was towards the beginning of our podcast. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01And in addition to being the lead and writer, she is also the executive producer.
SPEAKER_00Good for her. So good on that's that's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_01That is way cool.
SPEAKER_00Way.
SPEAKER_01Way cool. So is it time to drop the synopsis?
SPEAKER_00Oh, uh, yes. I forgot I was gonna have to do that part. And guess what?
SPEAKER_01I didn't forget it this time. You didn't, I know. The one time you remember. I I forgot to say that.
SPEAKER_00I was actually ready to get right into the review. And I'm like, oh no, oh no. Okay, good thing I wrote it down.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00Georgie, a travel writer, travels to Melbourne for an assignment where she meets Zach, an ex-Australian footballer who agrees to be her tour guide and shows her that there's more to life than work.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and if you're not familiar with Australian football, it's it's um a take off of rugby and soccer.
SPEAKER_00Right, which we learned in the film.
SPEAKER_01Which we know, doesn't he say that?
SPEAKER_00Yes, Zach kind of tells us because that was one of my questions. I think when we did the um we did the the preview podcast of the winter skate movies. I was like, football, is that like soccer? Is that yeah?
SPEAKER_01And I said, I think it's I think it's rugby. Yeah, but it's a it's a uh like a spin-off of rugby and soccer. Yeah. And we'll probably drop some spoilers. So if you haven't watched the movie yet, go ahead and stop the podcast, go watch the movie, come back and listen, and let us know what you think.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Sounds good.
SPEAKER_01You ready to dive in now?
SPEAKER_00Let's go.
SPEAKER_01So, what did you think?
SPEAKER_00What did I think? Oh, let me see, let me see. I I mean, I really I just thought it was a sweet, enjoyable rom-com. You know, I think we had a great start with Lost in Paradise. I think we continued, we continued that, you know, uh with this one. And, you know, I'm really impressed that this is her first writing gig.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00You know, so and it it's odd because I I was thinking about it, and it's when we do watch them twice, which we, you know, which we always mention, we watch them once to enjoy it, and then the second time to, you know, kind of get our notes and everything. And even the first time we watched it, it feels like uh Mallory's character, Georgie, is she's this fast paced, constantly on the move. She's a travel writer, so you know, her her life moves fast and she's constantly organizing things. And if they don't go that way, you know, she doesn't really go with the flow too much. She likes to have a schedule and a plan and basically her life planned out. And she doesn't take any time to slow down and stop and smell the roses, so to speak. And so you feel that frenetic energy from her, which I think is really a sign of a great actor, right? Like you feel, you feel like almost like I'm not nervous, but I'm like, oh my gosh, she's really, you know, high strung.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00But then the movie slows down so beautifully in the parts it's supposed to, where you know, Zach comes in and he kind of not makes her slow down, but it's like, hey, let's just let's go over here, let's do this. I'm gonna take you to not the touristy sites, but we're gonna go, you know, see the things that the locals know. About that, you should see, you know, kind of thing. So you can really get to know Melbourne. And so I just, I mean, I really I enjoyed it. I I thought it was, I, you know, and I mean, can you go wrong with an Australian accent? Looking at you, Ryan Corps, looking at you.
SPEAKER_01No, you're looking at me.
SPEAKER_00Am I though? Am I? If I'm looking straight ahead, I'm not I can't see you really, technically, except on the screen. What'd you think? What were your what are your thoughts?
SPEAKER_01You know, I always love it when the movie gets into the culture of the place that they're filming in. And I thought they did a really good job. Um, you know, like you were saying, she wanted to go see, I mean, she had a list of places she needed, she felt she needed to go see because you know, she did some writing for this magazine, which is a 24-7 uh uh magazine. And he was like, No, I'm gonna take you off the beaten path to the places that that you know kind of make Melbourne, right? And there was a a lot like the food, the art, the music, you know, they were all local, not the museums, you know, not the touristy places. And I really enjoyed that. And I like how the the banter between them two.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01I thought they did a really good job at that. And like you said, it was fast-paced in some parts and then it slowed down when it needed to slow down. And I I I really enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_00I mean, uh to go off of what you just said about like locally, like, you know, go to the local restaurants, don't go to the touristy traps. And I think, you know, if if you know anything about Anthony Bourdain, he was very much like that, wasn't he? He was like, we're not gonna go to the chain restaurant, you know. And when you go, when you go visit, you need to go to the village off of the city and go have a meal with like the people there, because that's where you're really gonna get to know the culture and the people.
SPEAKER_01And know there are no Outbacks restaurants. Right.
SPEAKER_00Don't they say that in there? That was pretty funny. Outback is not a thing in Australia. Yeah, because he goes, that's an American restaurant. That's Americans trying to do and you know, it's very funny that Mallory Jensen is an Australian playing an American in Australia. That is pretty good.
SPEAKER_01And I think you had mentioned it about, you know, slow down and smell the roses, but in this case it'd be kangaroos.
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, I mean, do you want to smell the kangaroo? I mean, or slow down and watch the kangaroos. There you go. I don't think you want to do much smelling of the kangaroos, but so let's get into the meat cute.
SPEAKER_01What did you think about that?
SPEAKER_00I thought, okay, so she's she's in the road. She's it's hysterical to me when she gets off the plane because it's like a day trip. It's literally takes a day to get to Australia, right? From the United States. So, um, which by the way, I would love to go someday, but I don't know that flight. Oof. Anyway.
SPEAKER_01You have to get one of those like sleeper. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So she gets she's all like disheveled and stuff when she gets off the plane. And it's that actually was really kind of funny. And so she's in the street, she's got her luggage, right? And she's bought a hat. She's already bought like the touristy, you know, hat, and she's in the street. And he kind of pulls up in the street and he doesn't really even get close to her, but he slams on the brakes because he sees her, and you know, and and she's what does she do? Does she she falls down, right? Even though he doesn't she drops all of her stuff, and then he gets out, and she's like, you know, you you almost hit me. And he's like, Well, not really, you know, not not quite, but okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then and then she kind of what she gets up and then and then he he goes into the airport because he's a ride share for somebody. Right, who's late, who's late, right? And you mean he's late or sh um she he's late. He's late, right?
SPEAKER_01Picking up his ride.
SPEAKER_00Right, because he's filling in, filling in for his dad or whatever. And then it it's so cute because then he looks out the window and she's waiting on the curb for her ride, which is him, which he doesn't know, you know, and he doesn't, and then he realizes and he goes out and he's like, Okay. So I thought I thought it actually was one of the better meet cues that we've seen. I mean, I enjoy them, but I really thought that that one worked.
SPEAKER_01It was definitely for the moment fun cute.
SPEAKER_00Yes. What'd you think?
SPEAKER_01Um I I I liked it. I loved it. It's you know, it was funny because when he did slam on the brake and she fell down, and they were kind of going back and forth about whose fault it was, she almost walked out in front of another car. Oh yes. You remember that? And it's like see, you know, you're not looking. And like you said, he did go into the airport, and I I just liked how they had him in shorts and and a plaid shirt, you know, because most of the ride, you know, people that are picking you up from the airport are in suits, and you know, they got a nice fancy car.
SPEAKER_00But well, yeah, I mean, I guess his dad has like a travel thing, right?
SPEAKER_01Like, yeah, and that's what she was expecting. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, but it didn't turn out that way.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00And then doesn't she go to get in the wrong side of the car? Is that at that at the meat cute? And he's like, We drive on the other side, you know, like we do it differently here. You gotta get out.
SPEAKER_01And he so it was cute. And that's what made it so funny because she's she's kind of like mad and everything, and then she goes to get in the in on the right side, which in America in the United States, that's the side you get in on. And he's like, you know, you plan on driving? And yeah, it was good. It was good, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It worked, it worked.
SPEAKER_01Oh man.
SPEAKER_00And I'm trying to remember. So, did you have some favorite scenes other than the meat cute, which we both love? That would be a favorite scene of mine.
SPEAKER_01That that was my first favorite scene. Okay, was her coming down, you know, the stairs in the airport. And isn't it just like an American? You you're hungry, you go to the snack machine, it doesn't really Oh yeah, before she before she sees them, right? Yeah, I want to call Vend them Vend the Food to you, right? It gets stuck and she's banging on it, you know, you shake it, you know. That that's a typical typical American thing, right? So I I really enjoyed that. And that was uh one of my uh favorite scenes. So I'll go on to the next favorite scene.
SPEAKER_00Okay, all right.
SPEAKER_01And I and I really liked it when um he took her to see the street art, and it just you know, you have to be amazed at the talent of these painters. I mean, you're talking about a wall, like I'm talking 20 feet, and the the it it's almost like the depth of the picture makes it like 3D. And I did notice, and I don't know if you noticed yourself, but the last picture on the right was signed 20 dated 2013.
SPEAKER_00Oh no, I didn't wonder if that's true. I wonder if that wall really exists.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, if it does.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I forgot to I should have looked that up, yeah, to see if that wall of art. I I bet you it probably does.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'd have to I would have to believe so that it does, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And of course, you know, she's all excited and everything, and she has to sit down because prior to that she had drank a lot of coffee.
SPEAKER_00Yep, yeah. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So she was kind of she was kind of spinning out. So yeah. But what about you? What was one of yours?
SPEAKER_00Um, the coffee shop. She goes and she's gonna be a little bit more. That's before the yeah, yeah. That's before the scene you were talking about, right? So she goes and that's another one where she, you know, she orders, she's like, I'll take coffee. And they're like, and like the barista asked her like, you know, 10 different questions, and she's like, I don't know, whatever. And he goes, Well, I'll give you one of each. So she's sitting down, and he Zach has gone to park the car, right? Like he drops her off to order, and then he comes in and she has tried several, and she's like, and I tried all these, is the best coffee I've ever read. You know, because she has she goes, that was so funny to me. There was she was absolute perfection in that scene. It was so funny.
SPEAKER_01I know there was like three cups, uh like like three little shot glasses.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she was feeling like she's like, This is the best coffee I've ever seen. I got it, and she's you know, she's like wired then, and she's already kind of high strong, right? Anyway, but um yeah, so that would be that was just I know it's a brief scene, but it just cracked me up both times we watched it. I think I literally laughed out loud during both times, you know, that we watched it.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, I enjoyed that. Yeah, it that was a good scene. Yeah, what about another one? Do you have another one?
SPEAKER_00Um, another one for me would be there's a beach scene, and I don't know if this is when they went down the shore or they were on their way down the shore. Like he he finally convinces her to no, I don't think they've gone down the shore yet. They go to the to the beach, he's got his dog.
SPEAKER_01It's a bay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or it's a bay, okay.
SPEAKER_01He said, he said bay.
SPEAKER_00It's a bay, right? And you know, he kind of that's where she sees that he's a footballer. She doesn't know who he is. Before that point, fans have come up to him and wanted to take a picture, but you kind of don't, you don't really know who he is or what he's done or what his history is yet. And then she sees a poster of him as a footballer, and then she's like, Oh, now the only part about that scene I didn't get was why she was a little bit upset. Like it seemed like she was that didn't really, you know, I know we'll get into jeers, but that was kind of like, I don't get it. But he, you know, he basically opens up about playing football and talks about how that was his identity, you know, until he got injured, and then he got injured and it was over. And it's like, what do you do when that is your entire life, when your entire life is a sport or writing, or you know, whatever it is, and you can no longer do that thing that drove you your entire childhood, you know, you're into adulthood, and what do you do? And he was having a hard time coping with it. And so that's when he talked about how he used to scream at the top of his lungs, he'd go to some top of some hill, right? And say, Come at me, world. You know, so and that's when he kind of where he mentions that. So I just like that scene about him opening up and her sort of, you know, taking it in.
SPEAKER_01That was a good scene. Yeah, I really enjoyed that one too. Um, another one of mine is when uh Zach took Georgie to eat breakfast. And of course, again, she wanted to go to something she had on her list, and he's like, No, I'm gonna take you to one of the local favorites, and they're sitting at the table and she's all anxious because she feels like the food is taking too long.
SPEAKER_00Oh, right, right.
SPEAKER_01And they finally get their food, and and they're having a conversation, and Zach he takes out the vegemite spread.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_01He's like, you know, this is one of uh Australia's favorite spreads, right? You gotta try it and let me know what you think. And I knew exactly how she was gonna react. And so I looked up the ingredients of vegemite. So it's yeast extract extract. It's the core ingredient given this that strong savory base. It has salt, contributes to its distinctive saltiness. It has a malt extract, which adds sweetness and malty notes, and then vegetable extracts. A blend of vegetables like celery, onions, sounds delicious. But I knew exactly how she was gonna react. Because, you know, in one of my jobs, my boss was from Australia and she'd gone on vacation when she came back. She brought back a jar of veggie mite.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01And she's like, Y'all, she's she's like, Y'all gotta taste this. And I was like, No, because you know, that song, uh, what was it, Minute Work?
SPEAKER_00Minute Work. Yeah. Veggie Mite Sandwich.
SPEAKER_01She opened it up and just smelling it was like, no.
SPEAKER_00Well, he says it's an acquired taste. Yeah, like it's an acquired Australian taste, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I I didn't know you had tried it because I I didn't try it.
SPEAKER_01I smelled I oh you smelled it, but then you did it turned you away. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I had um, we used to host foreign exchange students when I was in high school, and we had a girl from Australia, and she brought Vegemite as something for us all to try. It was not delicious, in my opinion.
SPEAKER_01So you knew exactly what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00To this, to this day, and I'm 50 something years old. Um, all of my friends still talk about how they tried Veggie Mite. Yes. And how, you know, it was an interesting taste. Some some thought it was, you know, different and interesting, and some were like, ooh, you know. So, but they all it is a core memory for several of my high school friends trying veggie mite here in the States. But I mean, you know, it's a it's a thing there, right? So yeah. But that was a really good, that was a good scene. And she because she says, is it chocolate?
SPEAKER_02You know, it looks chocolate, right?
SPEAKER_00It does, it looks a little bit like chocolate, but no, it's not.
SPEAKER_01Far from it.
SPEAKER_00Far from it. Yeah. All right.
SPEAKER_01Did you have another one?
SPEAKER_00Um, another scene. So they go down the shore. He finally convinces her to take, you know, let's go down right to see his friends. And you can kind of see the turn in her that she's slowing down a bit, and they go down the shore and they're and they visit his friends, and then they they're gonna have a what a concert or something at their house, but they it's a nice venue. It almost looks like a wedding type venue, only it's not a wedding, but it's for the for the concert. And um, and they decide to stay the night, which again, I was a little bit like you're just meeting these people, and they could be a group of serial killers, but I'm going with it. It's all mark, right?
SPEAKER_01It's a bed and breakfast.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, no, it wasn't a bed and breakfast. They were friends, they were mates of his, right? So they were. Um, so during that time though, she doesn't have any clothes, of course, because they have decided to stay, which immediately freaks her out, by the way, because she is on a schedule, she's got to get back, and she's trying to go with the flow. She's really trying to get out of her, you know, comfort zone and just be like, just not look at her phone. Right. And she's like, okay, we'll stay. But then you see her face and she's like, What did I just do? You know, she freaks out. But anywho, so she ends up wearing the the couple, the woman, she, you know, they become fast friends, they talk about deep things, and then she wears one of her, one of the friends' dresses. It's like this, you know, it's simple, but it's beautiful, right? Like a blue dress. Sun dress, it looked like right. And sundress, yeah. And she comes out and he, you know, and he's so complimentary, Zach, as he sees her, and he's like, you know, you're radiant, you're beautiful, etc. And she's like, let me get my notebook and you know, so I can write it down so I'll remember. And he says, I'll remember. And I'm like, stop.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and he did it as she was walking by him. He kind of turned to turn it tilted his head and he was like, I'll remember.
SPEAKER_00I mean, that is the Dawson's Creek, yes, Pacey. I remember everything. One of my all-time favorite scenes in a TV show. Oh my gosh. So, yeah, so I love that. Yeah, that was a lot of buildup for that, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was good. Yeah, because her friend was what, seven months pregnant or nine.
SPEAKER_00Or his friend, yeah, his his friend's wife. His mate. Yeah, I guess. So, how bad could they be if she's pregnant?
SPEAKER_01I mean, right, yeah, right. Yeah, yeah, and they couldn't go home because she was like, Well, we can stay for a couple of songs and then drive home, drive back up. And he there are they both all three of them look at her and they go, Ooh, you don't want to be out at night because that's when the ruse come out. The Joeys. The Joeys. So yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it was cool that they did. You have any other favorite scenes?
SPEAKER_01Um, I had one more, and it was kind of a like a banter back and forth. And it's I think they had just finished riding bikes and they had ice cream, and uh Georgie talks about how similar Australians are to New Zealanders, right? Oh, yes, yes. No, we're not, it's not even close.
SPEAKER_00And he's like different country, yeah, different country. She goes, Well, you're she said, doesn't she say, well, you live close or something? He's like, We're 2,000 miles apart.
SPEAKER_01Yes. And then she starts to use the uh Australian accent. Only it's kind of like I would do an Australian accent, not really good. And it's just a cute little scene.
SPEAKER_00Is that when he says you're like in a he says something about crocodile Dundee, and I forget what he says, but it's something like yeah, there's a really good scene. Yeah, and I, you know, um, throughout the whole thing, you have the sprinkles of, you know, they go to what a koala sanctuary.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00I thought that was really cool. Um, she got to it's one of his friends that runs it. I just like that they kind of show that side of it. And of course, you you know, they're gonna show the kangaroos slash Joey's and how they might not be so nice and you have to be a little careful, you know. Um, so I just you know that that was sprinkled throughout I think the entire the entire movie, which which I enjoyed. I really enjoyed.
SPEAKER_01Me too. Yeah. So did you have you want to move into cheers?
SPEAKER_00Cheers. Why don't you go first with cheers?
SPEAKER_01Um one of my cheers was when he was talking to her, he said something like, It's not about the place, it's about the people.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01And I thought that was very, very good because, you know, he he's stuck in the past, kind of. She's afraid to be left behind. Right. Just get it here. Always on the go, always on the go. And he was talking about, you know, you gotta be in the moment, you gotta be in the place, and it's not a and she was talking about, you know, her travels, and he's like, it's not about the place, it's about the people. And that's a hundred percent true.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I agree. So I think, I think for me, one of the biggest cheers would be just the um the moral of the story, if you will. You know, not really the moral, was so you know, to slow down. And she realizes at one point when they're at his friend's house that she hasn't even looked at her phone and she doesn't really care.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00Right. And I would when we saw that, I was like, you know, there was a time before I carried a cell phone everywhere I went.
SPEAKER_02I mean we all.
SPEAKER_00No, I know. Well, not all, but but I mean, you know, we're old enough where, and I know a lot of people are of that, you know, if you're if you're of a certain age, I mean, you remember the times when you just did go out to dinner and you didn't have your phone, or you did just go out for the day to the zoo and you weren't worried about you might have brought a camera to take pictures, right? An actual camera. Um, but you weren't, you know, you wanted to capture the moment in the way that you remembered. You weren't so worried about capturing it on your phone, you know. And I take a lot of pictures with my phone. We have our phones wherever we go. We're not some, you know, purists where we never use our phones, but um, it just it's just a good reminder to put it down once in a while. And because you can live without it, you know. And of course she ends up getting into a little bit of trouble, not in trouble, but she misses a message and it causes her to be not so nice at one point. But um, because you know, she is kind of regretting staying the night, even though it was the best thing for her. But I just so I enjoyed the message of, you know, sometimes you do need to slow down, you do need to go with the flow. And we've talked about that here on the podcast is you know, I don't, I like a schedule.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm kind of I'm not quite as high strong as her character was, but you know, I do like to, you know, and it's hard for me to veer, but I'm getting better. At it as I as I get older, and you know, to learn things can change, plans can change, and you have to be willing to adapt to it and let some things go.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00You know, so I just thought the overall, you know, story for that, I thought they were great for each other.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know, they balanced each other really well and they had really great chemistry, the two of them.
SPEAKER_01I know. And he he's so funny, Georgie girl.
SPEAKER_00And Georgie girl. Oh, please call me Amy girl.
SPEAKER_01All right, Amy girl.
SPEAKER_00You gotta say it in the Australian accent. It only works in the Australian accent. I know. Well, you're Scottish, so I can't even do a Scottish. And he, you know, he so much reminds me of Gerard Butler, the actor. Oh my gosh. I mean, I had to show you a I'm like, he looks like Gerard Butler did back in like the 90s, you know, in the movies and stuff. And he just he was, yeah, he he was really good. So yeah, did you have any other cheers?
SPEAKER_01I had one more, and it's kind of a fun one where I am so thrilled that the hokey pokey is global. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_00But I think it, but it doesn't reference the dance in that. Is that what you're talking about?
SPEAKER_01He does because I thought it was I thought it referenced. Zach was hanging the the outdoor lights with Scott, and Scott was like, um, put it out and then put it in. And then he said, put it out, and then he goes, and shake it all about. You do the hokey pokey. Because they said hokey pokey two times in the movie.
SPEAKER_00They said it earlier, yes. That's what I thought. I thought he said something else with the movie. He said it.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, Okay, oh, look at that. They do the hokey pokey in Australia. So that was kind of a fun gir for me.
SPEAKER_00Well, you know, fun cheer, yeah. Um, they're referenced the I'll remember, you know, oh, I'll remember. And then he also, there's one point where he says, Um, you're perfect the way you are.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00And you know what that reminded me instantly of Bridget Jones because there's a scene where um Colin Firth tells Renee Zellweger, you know, something like I like you just the way you are, or you know, you're perfect the way you are. So that's what it reminded me of. And I was like, oh my gosh, you're stealing my heart with all these lines. So um, yeah, I thought it was uh yeah.
SPEAKER_01It was good. So was that it for your cheers or your cheers?
SPEAKER_00My cheers. Um yeah, I don't, I don't think there was anything else that I just you talked about the Georgie girl and you know, the things he says to her towards the end. It was just really it's like you're annoyingly impatient, you're addicted to schedules, but I love it. You know, like it was just so it was so cute in the end when they finally, you know, yeah, the only thing I want to win is you. There were a lot of good lines in this movie.
SPEAKER_01Uh lots.
SPEAKER_00A lot.
SPEAKER_01So what about jeers?
SPEAKER_00Uh other than what did we talk about earlier?
SPEAKER_01The when she saw the poster and one of the little beaches.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah. I didn't really, I didn't understand and that's only a jeer for me because I didn't understand it. Right.
SPEAKER_01It it was for me too.
SPEAKER_00It seemed a little like uh out of place for her character.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, you know, I'm not sure, like she's a travel journalist, so she goes to all these places, and the fact that she really wasn't aware of time was a little bit odd to me. But I mean, you know, I guess it's her she had like uh, you know, like organized chaos, you know, is how she lived her life, you know. And um, you know, and I thought it was this is going back to cheers. Um, sorry, I know we're in jeers, but just that she said about um oh, I'm losing it now. Oh, about her fear, about she lived her life in fear because in it took her so long to figure out what career she wanted to do.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00She's m always on the move because she's trying to catch up to where her friends are. Like her friends, you know, like if if you know your path right away, you're elevated in your career by a certain age. Where she she said she kind of bounced from thing to thing to thing until she found the travel journalism. Right. And then she just is on the go all the time because she is trying to catch up her career. Right. And he's basically like uh he says something like his coach used to tell him, You're a team player, but you run your own race. Like it's not a competition. Right. And I think we see this theme a lot in Hallmark movies, in that you're on your own timeline.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know, things don't always, you don't always go to college, get married, have babies, have a career, you know, it doesn't, it doesn't go like that for everybody.
SPEAKER_01And definitely not in that order.
SPEAKER_00And people put that pressure on themselves too. Yeah, and for sure, not on that order, in that order a lot. So but yeah, that that jeer, that'd probably be the only, the only jeer, only two gears. Yeah. How about you?
SPEAKER_01Did you that was my jeer, and I felt like they could have written it to where she came she came out and was like, You're a footballer? You know, and kind of that particular scene, yeah. Because it's not like he lied or told her. Right, right. He did but that's the reaction that she kind of gave at first.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, I didn't know that. I too, I didn't feel like that was it just didn't fit.
SPEAKER_00It didn't seem like it fit, you know, in the movie. But all right. So out of five corks, how many corks?
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna give this one fit uh four and a quarter.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna give it a four and a quarter.
SPEAKER_00A four and a quarter, huh?
SPEAKER_01What about you?
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna give it a solid four. Yeah. I enjoyed it. I mean, I I really enjoyed it. And the more we've talked about it now, you know, because I was thinking like three, three and three quarters, maybe. And I'm like, no, I mean, I really the second, I think the second time we watched it, I was like, this is I get it, you know. Yeah, I mean, I got it the first time, but it just it just writing things down, I'm like, that was a great line, or that was because sometimes you just miss things in the you know, and you and yeah, it should hit you the first time around. I get it, you know, and it and it did. I really enjoyed it the first time also. Yeah, but watching it again, I mean it's something if it was on, I would probably sit and re-watch it, you know.
SPEAKER_01Well, we we do all year round, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be on.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna come back on all my channel. Well, we can watch it on Hallmark Plus too, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. All right. So is that a wrap?
SPEAKER_00That's a wrap.
SPEAKER_01Well, we'd like to thank you for listening and also watching us on YouTube.
SPEAKER_00There you go. Follow us wherever you get your podcasts and on social media so you don't miss a thing. Until next time. Cheers.
