Welcome to For the Wine. It's rom com time where we'll sip some wine and review all things rom com on the Hallmark channel. I'm Amy.
SPEAKER_00And I'm Gary.
SPEAKER_02Still Gary. Still Gary. We are going to be previewing the final four Spring Into Love movies of 2026. Hallmark broke them up. There were two in March, and there are four in April, which is great because we get six brand new movies. Right. Right. And actually we had eight because we had two mysteries at the beginning of March. And then the two um that we've already watched, Two for Tea and A Royal Setting. Yeah, which we enjoyed. We enjoyed both of them. Not everybody didn't enjoy a royal setting, but that's okay. Royal movies are for everybody.
SPEAKER_00We don't have opinions, and that's why we do the podcast, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So um, so we are here to talk about the final four that will be airing very soon because we are a little delayed on this preview podcast because of things that have happened.
SPEAKER_00It's okay.
SPEAKER_02It's all right. It's all right.
SPEAKER_00We'll still be on time.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00All right, so let's go ahead and dive into it.
SPEAKER_02Dive into it. Let's go. All right. So premiering on Saturday, April 4th, a season to blossom. Now, this one stars Emily Tennant and Carlo Marx. We um just saw Emily in not just good grief, it was like five months ago, but it feels like yesterday. We saw her. And um, she was in Christmas above the clouds, where she played Erin Krakow's assistant, I guess, in that. And of course, you know, she was adorable in The Wish Swap. I can't say that 10 times in a row. Um, Carlo has been in several Hallmark productions, but we know him mainly from Chesapeake Shores, which is a TV show series that if you haven't watched it, you should watch it. It's a great show. We give a shout out every time it comes up. This was directed by Terry Ingram. He, of course, is a Hallmark staple, bringing he he's directed just a ton of Hallmark productions. He directed the three wise men movies, the Wedding Veil movies, Journey to You, Several Mysteries, Several Episodes of Chesapeake Shore. So check out all of his directing credits and you will be impressed.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Probably.
SPEAKER_02Jennifer Wolfgram wrote this particular movie. She has one other writing credit as a staff writer for the TV movie Vegas High, which was released in 2020.
SPEAKER_002020.
SPEAKER_02What a different world it was in April of 2020.
SPEAKER_00My gosh.
SPEAKER_02It was it's hard to even imagine that now.
SPEAKER_00So let's go ahead and drop the synopsis.
SPEAKER_02All right. An aspiring writer takes over her late grandmother's bookstore and finds love.
SPEAKER_00Love. And simple and sweet.
SPEAKER_02I mean, what do you think?
SPEAKER_00I I feel like Hallmark has something in for the grandmothers here because they always seem to pass away and somebody gets their business.
SPEAKER_02Somebody gets their house or takes over their business. Or yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or the grandmother tries to leave something people together.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. No, we did we did get to see the trailer for this one and the trailer for the next one, but there's not a trailer currently available for the final two. So I mean, I think it looks cute. I'm always a sucker for a good story about a bookstore, honestly. Yeah, and it looks like the bookstore looks kind of cool and quaint and I agree with you.
SPEAKER_00I feel like um the chemistry between the two because they're such great actors. I I think it's gonna be like right off the bat.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. I think it'll be it'll be interesting to see because I don't know. I haven't read anything else about it, so I don't know if you know, she goes back to her hometown or her grandmother's hometown and he's someone she knew, or is he gonna be someone that she just you know meets for the first time? So I'm I'm really curious to watch this one. I'm I'm kind of I'm looking forward to this one. I think I think it's gonna be good. Yeah, I think we're in store.
SPEAKER_00I think it's gonna be good. You wanna know why I think it's gonna be good?
SPEAKER_02Why?
SPEAKER_00Because it's got a tree swing.
SPEAKER_02It's got a tree swing. We did see that tire swing.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna be good.
SPEAKER_02Did you say a tree swing?
SPEAKER_00A tire swing, sorry. Tire tree.
SPEAKER_02It's been a long day. A tire swing. Yes, it's got a tree tire swing.
SPEAKER_00Have you ever had the uh opportunity to swing on one?
SPEAKER_02Uh, of course I have. We had one in my front yard actually when I was growing up. We had a tire swing. Yeah, I had a kind of a big front yard. We had these huge trees, and so yeah, it was kind of cool. Kind of cool. How about you?
SPEAKER_00We had one too, and unfortunately, I was on it one day and it snapped, and that was fun. But my biggest being a little kid, you know, you're resilient, you can take the false.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, if no one's around, you don't cry, right? You just get up and you just get up and be like, ooh, ooh, ooh. If someone's watching, you might cry a little bit, but that was supposed to happen. Yeah. I don't think I'd get up so easily now if I fell the tree swing or a tire swing. Now you got me saying it, tree swing. If a tire swing.
SPEAKER_00Oh my goodness. So the next movie that's premiering Saturday, April 11th is A Little Park Music. It stars Lacey J. Mailey and Bo Mershoff. Lacey was just in the Alpine holiday with Ashley Williams. Yes, where they played sisters.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was a good one. Two sisters, kind of, you know, a strange. And there's another one. The grandma wanted them to reach out. Oh, you're right. That is. You're right.
SPEAKER_02You're right. And you didn't mean strange, you meant estrange. They're not really a strange, but they you know. I said a strange.
SPEAKER_00If I didn't, I'm sorry. That's what I meant. But um, yeah, you know, but you're right. But they had to go to the Alps in France and retrace her trip, the grandmother's trip. So that's pretty good. And the other interesting thing about Lacey is in Chesapeake Shore, Carlo Marx plays her husband.
SPEAKER_02That's right. That's right.
SPEAKER_00They owned a little bed and breakfast, and he was the chef.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Yep.
SPEAKER_00And they were married, right?
SPEAKER_02And they were, I think, did they get married during yeah, they got married during the show. Yeah. Not in real life, but on their characters got married. And then they, yeah, they had a bed and breakfast or something.
SPEAKER_00And Bo, he was in the finish line, which was another good one. And you know, it's funny because we were talking about it the other day, and you had said something like, he looks familiar, and when you did some research, you found out that he was also in Desperate Housewives.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes. I I was like, you know, gosh, we gotta find out some more about him. So he played, he played the son of Drea. Oh, what's her name? The actress's name is escaping me. She was in Sopranos.
SPEAKER_00Um, I can't think of her name.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. She was he played her son, and I can't think of the actor's name who played her husband, but he and he kind of liked Julie, which was Terry Hatcher's daughter in that TV show. And then I think he was like accused of hurting Julie, but he ended up, it really wasn't him, but he kind of got set up. But right, um, yeah, so that's a little sidebar for Desperate Housewives. I loved Desperate Housewives, and we just you watched it for the first time, right? We did like a rewatch. I did a rewatch. You didn't know.
SPEAKER_00You said this is probably one of the best ending season finale or series finales ever.
SPEAKER_02Well, well, yeah, it's below six feet under. Six feet under has my vote for best series. This one was up there too ever. But this one was really, really good. Yeah, it might be right just below six feet under series finale, just below it. Just below it.
SPEAKER_00Well, guess who's directing this one?
SPEAKER_02Who's directing this one?
SPEAKER_00Peter Benson.
SPEAKER_02Oh, Peter, he's having a good um, actually a good two years. Good year. Well, he f longer than that. He's been, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, he's busy being both a director and an actor.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes, he is.
SPEAKER_00You know, that's gotta be kind of fun. And I'd also like to see some of these behind the scene kind of reels.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it would be great. Some bloopers, maybe to get some bloopers, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And you know, of course, he also directed the last Hannah Swanson movie, Sugar and Vice, which he also played a small little part in that.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes. That was just in March. Yeah, yes.
SPEAKER_00Good gracious. A few other Hallmark movies he's directed are uh The More The Merrier, Christmas Above the Clouds, A Royal Montana Christmas, and Return to Office.
SPEAKER_02That's a busy man right there. Busy, busy man. So, what's the synopsis for a little park music?
SPEAKER_00Um, when a piano appears in the park gazebo, interfering with important work, of course.
SPEAKER_02Duh.
SPEAKER_00Why doesn't every park have a piano and a gazebo? I mean uh city manager Allie joins forces with rookie cop Ryan to remove it, only to find both music and love are hard to resist. And we watched this one, uh the trailer for this one, because yes, we did. And I I think it's gonna be kind of cute. Really? It's kind of got that little magical stuff in there where they remove the piano, but the next day it's back there. So I don't know. I I think it's gonna be cute. I mean, I wish I could play the piano.
SPEAKER_02Uh well, me too.
SPEAKER_00But I wish you could too.
SPEAKER_02I don't want to play the piano.
SPEAKER_00I can play the drummer.
SPEAKER_02I took piano lessons as a kid and I did not enjoy that. And I have a sister who can play the piano really well. She really enjoyed it. Me hated it.
SPEAKER_00I was a drummer. Yeah, I mean, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I really like, you know, I really like Lacey Mally, and you know, I'm not as familiar with Bo. So I, you know, other than the Desperate Housewives connection, and that would have been like 20 years ago or whatever. So um I don't know. It just looks a little. I'm on the fence about this one. I hope it surprises me in a good way.
SPEAKER_01Right, right.
SPEAKER_02But honestly, I just I don't know. I'm just not sure. I'm kind of like, huh, so we'll see. I think out of the four, I have two that I'm sort of like and then two that I'm like, yeah, that'll probably be really good. So and you never know. Of course, of course. You just know, I hope they're all great. I hope they're all great, you know. But I this one I'm I don't know. It's it's a different storyline, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, definitely different.
SPEAKER_02I think so. Yeah. All right. So premiering Saturday, April 18th, we get to Philly with love.
SPEAKER_00Philly, Philly.
SPEAKER_02And before I get into it, do you want to talk about Philly or you want to talk about the Eagles or no?
SPEAKER_00Nope. Nope.
SPEAKER_02Oh, we we have someone who's a Cowboys fan in this house. We are a house divided for the NFL. So I wonder how you're gonna feel about this movie.
SPEAKER_00I already hate it. No, no, no. I don't hate it.
SPEAKER_02This one stars okay with it. I know, I know. This one stars Rebecca Dalton as Emma and Steven. I don't know how to pronounce his last name, although I've seen him a lot. Who's who's are as Nate? A few of Rebecca's Hallmark films are the four love club movies, Falling Like Snowflakes, and Christmas by Design. She was also in Goodwich. Goodwitch. Steven was just in 2025's Countdown to Christmas's um Chris a little. Let me try that again. I was I was gonna say Christmas again, but um, he was in Melt My Heart this Christmas, but he has a pretty good, you know, pretty decent homework resume, which also includes drum roll. That was a horrible drum roll. And you were a drummer? Chesapeake Shores.
SPEAKER_00There's a theme going here, man.
SPEAKER_02I know, I know. It was directed by Amy Force. Good name. Amy directed two of the love club movies Melt My Heart This Christmas and two of the Unwrapping Christmas movies. No writer was listed yet on the old IMDB.
SPEAKER_00Interesting.
unknownYeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So all right. Well, let's talk about the synopsis, shall we?
SPEAKER_02All right, so um, a teacher and an archivist decode Revolutionary War era love letters, taking them on a thrilling journey through Philadelphia where they uncover history and discover a love story of their own.
SPEAKER_00Oh, wow. That's interesting, huh?
SPEAKER_02Now, this one we we don't have a trailer for yet.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. But just reading a synopsis, it sounds kind of interesting.
SPEAKER_02I think it can go either way.
SPEAKER_00It's almost like a James Rollins or Dan Brown type of some mysteries, some riddles. Some going around the town trying to find clues.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I it does it does sound interesting.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's for sure. And I was thinking, now we get another mystery, kind of.
SPEAKER_00Well, you kind of get both, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And you know, I thought of um sign seal delivered because we're, you know, in the throes of that canon right now, and you just think of you're trying to track things down and maybe a little bit of like national treasure, you know. That's what I thought of too. I thought of those two, you know, they're trying to I so I with the letters especially, you know, I I I think it has I think it has potential. I'm sort of like, I don't know, but I'm also I think this one has more potential than the last one. I hate to say it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, little park music.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So but but we'll, you know, we'll see. I'm I mean, I have an open mind.
SPEAKER_00All right, we got a little park, uh Little Park music as the sleeper. This this uh okay, it's gonna be the sleeperhead. Maybe, maybe. Here we go.
SPEAKER_02So this weekend, and we didn't mention this at the top, um this same weekend, Too Philly with Love will air, will premiere on Saturday, April 18th, and then the next night on Sunday, April 19th, the way home, season four premieres.
SPEAKER_00Oh I know.
SPEAKER_02Are you a little it's a little bittersweet?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it is. Boo.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, it is the final season, and you know, there's word on the street, as the kids say, that uh, you know, they found out that it was canceled sort of mid season. They hadn't finished filming and they had to scramble to wrap things up. I don't know how true that is or not, but I have read and heard that. Um, not personally, but just you know, online. Because, you know, the internet tells the truth all the time. Right every time. Which is kind of which is disappointing because it is such a big hit for Homework. So, you know, who knows what the reasons are? Everybody's, you know, I don't know if it's about money or I have to believe the viewership is there because one of the seasons, remember, it was only gonna be on Hallmark Plus, right? And the fans went crazy because they were like, because it had aired on Hallmark Channel, and then they were gonna move it to Hallmark Plus, and um then they moved it back to the Hallmark Channel. So you know, that tells you you have a big fan base. So, of course, The Way Home, if you've never seen it, it stars Kyler Lee and she was Lexi on Gray's Anatomy. For those of you that don't know, uh it also stars Evan Williams, Sadie Laflame Snow, and the iconic Andy McDowell. Hello, and then there's tons of supporting supporting cast members. I mean, I cannot see Andy McDowell without thinking about St. Emma's fire. I just I can't do it. I can't do it, I can't do it. I love her so much. And she's actually going to be in 2026's a Grand Biltmore Christmas.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Andy McDowell. So that's that's kind of exciting too.
SPEAKER_00Looking forward to that one too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So the synopsis for the way home, if you're one of the few people who has not seen it yet, is three generations of strong, independent women living together in the small four farm town of Port Haven embark on an enlightening journey none of them could have imagined.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And if you like time travel, this is for you. Yeah, it is. It's it's been great. I mean, we when did we start watching it? We started gosh, we didn't see the first season as it aired. No, I think it would be season two, right? Yeah, I think if I remember correctly. I think we binged the first season. Yeah, and then started right, right, with season two. We got your we were hooked immediately. It was one of those shows that was kind of like, I don't know, you know, let's just check it out. Because I, you know, the sci-fi thing part of it, I'm like, uh, but it's time travel and it's done so well. And the way they have gone to the different decades, the way they've brought in, you know, the characters in present day, and then you see them in the 70s, you see them in, you know, and so it's it's so so good. And I think I'm gonna have to watch either the final two episodes or the final episode again before we start season four, just to refresh my memory.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there's nothing wrong with that. We could do that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, what do you think?
SPEAKER_00I I hope because they found out mid-season that it wraps up and I don't know if it was mid season, I don't know at what point in the season, but I know they had enough time to kind of yeah, and and I just hope because I I wanted to learn more about the the pond. Like where did the pond come to be? Who was the first to to discover it? And the importance of the pond is and the importance of the pond is it only goes back to the past and not the future. So that's how they time travel.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's how they time travel. That's the vessel for the time travel, is the pond.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So I'm really looking forward to it. I hope it has a great ending and it's all wrapped up into a nice, pretty bow.
SPEAKER_02Well, and it's so great because, like I said, it's like three generations, you know, uh of these women, and then you learn more about their ancestors also, right? And what they went through and the town that they're in. And it's just, it's it's really, really well done. The writing is great, the directing is great. I I did see an interview with um with uh Kyler. Actually, it was Kyler, and I think maybe Sadie was in it too. And I I don't know what season this was from, but she was talking about how they film in Toronto, and you know, the pond is actually a real man-made pond that they jump into, and it can get very, very cold. And the longer they shoot since they're in Toronto and they must shoot if it gets colder, yeah. And so she said they they try to film all of their pond days, you know, it's warm at once, right? Right. So they don't have to, so they don't have to do it later. And it kind of makes it makes sense.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, not everybody, everybody wants to do that polar plunge, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. But if you haven't watched it, you have until April 19th to binge, and we strongly suggest that you do. You will need a flow chart. We need some kind of Excel spreadsheet that talks about all the family members and who's doing what and timelines and timelines, yeah. You mainly need the timelines, yeah. But it's good, it's good, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So we're looking forward to it.
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00All right. Well, the final Spring Into Love 2026 movie airs Saturday, April 25th, and it's called I'll Be Seeing You. And this one stars my man.
SPEAKER_02You're my Tyler Hines, Tyler Hines. Who's that? James Bond. Hallmark by James Bond. Stacy Farbery, every time. Stacey Farber.
SPEAKER_00Tyler is obvious one of Hallmark's huge male actors, right? Holiday touchdown, the wise men movies, groomsman movies, never been Chris, which is good. Yeah. Always Amore, which that I think that's one of his best movies.
SPEAKER_02Agreed.
SPEAKER_00And An Unexpected Christmas on the 12th date of Christmas, Winter in Vale. We saw Stacy last on Hallmark and Hanukkah on the Rocks, which I thought that was a really cute movie.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was good too. Yes, we enjoyed that one.
SPEAKER_00And I'll be seeing you. Is directed by Jessica Harmon. She has several Hallmark directing credits, including Last Summer's Catch of the Day, Several Mysteries, and Rip in Time. It's written by Joe Elkins and Blake Silver. Their latest Hallmark movie is Tidings for the Season from CTC 2020.
SPEAKER_02Countdown to Christmas. That's right.
SPEAKER_00Countdown to Christmas.
SPEAKER_02CTC.
SPEAKER_00CTC.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know, um, was it? I think it's funny because the word, you know, talk about acronyms CEO.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_00What does CEO stand for?
SPEAKER_02Christmas and Easter only. People who attend church on Christmas and Easter only.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yep, yep. Right. So the synopsis for this one is when a work errand derails Amy's weekend plans with her grandmother. Here we are with the grandmothers again.
SPEAKER_02And Amy.
SPEAKER_00And Amy. Oh, we got two Amy's. They embark on a road trip with one sentimental detour, but need the help of a charming activities director.
SPEAKER_02I wonder who that is. I have no idea.
SPEAKER_00So what do you think? How do you think this one's going to turn out?
SPEAKER_02Um, I think this is gonna be really cute. I love now. This is one we haven't seen the trailer for, but if you go to um Tyler Hines' Instagram account, he's been posting some behind the scenes things with with Stacy, with Christine Um Eversall, who is also in it. And they're really cute, really fun. You know, they're driving one of those, what would you call it? Is it like a Volkswagen van?
SPEAKER_00It's a Volkswagen bus.
SPEAKER_02A voltwagan.
SPEAKER_00Like the Scooby-Doo.
SPEAKER_02Like a Scooby-Doo bus. And so it's just it reminds me of like, you know, the 70s kind of laid back, even though it doesn't take place in the 70s. So I I think it looks what I said it kind of got that vibe. Yeah, yeah. So I I think it looks um, I think it looks cute and fun. And you know, we always love Tyler. So and Stacey, you know, like you said, we we we really enjoyed Hanukkah on the rock. So I'm looking forward to seeing the two of them together and kind of seeing where it goes. Like you said, again, another grandma connection. Only the grandma is alive in this one, is alive. I assume it's Christine Eversaw, but maybe not, but I assume it's her. Yeah. Um, so it yeah, she's alive. She's alive. So I I think it can be really cute and charming and just really enjoyable. That's what I think. What do you think?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I I I agree. I think it's gonna be a blast, I think.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I like the road trip idea too.
SPEAKER_00Yep, yep.
SPEAKER_02And they run into someone else. So I I think I I I don't know. I I like the I like the synopsis, I like the premise so far. I mean, we've had other road trip movies, of course, but um, I don't think too many. Not too too many.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, I think which one do you think will end up being your favorite?
SPEAKER_00Um I honestly don't know. I think I think I think Tyler Hines and I think The Blossom I think are gonna be probably my two favorite.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00What about you?
SPEAKER_02I think the same. I feel like um I don't know. I I really hope the other two, you know, I hope we're pleasantly surprised, but I'm not saying they're gonna be bad, but I just don't, I'm not as excited. You know, I'm mostly I'm mostly excited for a season to blossom and um I'll be seeing you. I'm also really looking forward to the final season of The Way Home. I mean, that's not a movie, but uh I, you know, because we just love that show. It is so, so good as a series. I'm really disappointed that it is ending. And, you know, when you know a show is ending and you watch it that last season, that just sort of adds to it, you know, it either makes you more not tense to watch it, but you're kind of like, ugh, you kind of you watch it, but you're sad because you know it's gonna end, and you know, especially if it's a show that you really, really love. So, um, but I am looking forward to that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, me too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and um, so we'll see, we'll see. I I think Hallmark has started off really strong in the first quarter. We had a lot of great movies, quarter one of 2026, and I am looking forward to them continuing on in Q2, in Q2 of 2026.
SPEAKER_00Awesome, awesome.
SPEAKER_02Yep, all right.
SPEAKER_00So, is that a wrap?
SPEAKER_02That is a wrap.
