SPEAKER_01And we're so happy to be joined again by our friend Nicole of the Swing My Heart Podcast. Welcome back, Nicole. Thank you so much again for having me. We're just talking about this movie. Please go. Yes, yes. We're so glad you're here. Now
Hallmark News And Upcoming Releases
SPEAKER_01we are going to talk about one of our newest segments, Heard It Through the Grapevine. So, Nicole, do you have any Hallmark news that you want to share?
SPEAKER_05Yes. So we have the Kevin McGary and Megan Ori movie for fall that was just recently announced. I believe it's called a Halloween Carol. Sounds fun, doesn't it? Yeah. And then we have the Hallmark Christmas Cruise, which let's see, I'm going to pull up the list right here. So on the cruise this year, we have Jonathan Bennett and Nikki DeLosh who are hosting. And then Andrew Wolfer, Ashley Williams, BJ Britt, Benjamin Ayers, Brendan Penny, Daniel Lissing, Amelia Ugaroop, Aaron Cahill, Heather Hemons, Kimberly Sustad, Paul Campbell, Rachel Boston, Sarah Drew, Taylor Cole, Wes Brown, and Will Kil.
SPEAKER_01What a what a cast is that's gonna be on that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah, it's gonna be so fun.
SPEAKER_02That is gonna be a real good time.
SPEAKER_05And then we have some Christmas movies that were announced. We already know about Holiday Ever After, which is a holiday. We already know about Holiday Ever After, which is a Disney World Wish Come True, with Travis Van Winkle, Lacey Shabert, and Christy Carlson Romano, now my Disney channel, loving loves that Christy Carlson Romano is in this movie. Yes. A lot of My Generation Loves Her from Evan Stevens, Kim Possible, um, a grand builtmore Christmas with Niall Mader, Holland Roden, Jonathan Frakes, Jonathan Freik, and Andy McDowell, of course, who we know and love from The Way Home. The Christmas Loop with Tyler Hines, DoubleCon with Victor Webster and Barbara Niven, directed by I think Jeff Beasley. Christmas and Blue Dog Valley, based on novel by Annie Noblen. I think of the same name. Uh Single at the Wedding, Doubly Booked, with Rachel E. Cook, No Screens Christmas and Trieber with Wes Brown and Autumn Research. Wow.
SPEAKER_01I like how they start trickling in now. You know, people are so excited to hear. I mean, a couple of them, you know, they've they've been kind of promoting already, but it's so good to hear the other ones kind of trickle in. I know it's gonna be here before we know it.
SPEAKER_05I think the last bit of news I found, I guess Hallmark related, is rom-con hosted by Decade Days. And that will be September 2027 in William, Wilmington, North Carolina. I'm so excited about that.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I know that's so good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're gonna definitely try to go to that one. Yeah, we can maybe go to that one. Yes, that'll be great. Y'all have any fun Hallmark news? Uh we did hear that there is a release date now for the first two episodes of Paris is always a good idea, starring Lacey Shabert and Scott Michael Foster. So the first two episodes will drop on Hallmark Plus on Thursday, July 30th. Okay. And uh based on what I read, I think there's gonna be a total of six episodes, and then they're gonna drop weekly after that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01On Thursdays. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Oh yeah, and then Christmas at sea, I just remembered.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that starts July 1st, right? Yes. I think that drops July 1st on Hallmark Plus.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yes. I've been sent screeners for the first two episodes. I haven't watched it. Oh, you have? Oh, that's so cool. Oh, okay. So we should definitely tune in.
SPEAKER_05Is that I haven't watched yet, but I'm sure that's okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's so exciting. That's so exciting. Yeah, so it's coming up. Christmas in July, and then the real deal. The Christmas in July movies I completely forgot about. Oh, that's all right. That's all right. Those are coming up.
SPEAKER_05Those are coming up. There's what is it? Christmas under construction. And then I didn't write down the other two, but one is with Kat Burrell, I think. And Marcus Rosner. Um getting the pairings wrong. Let me see. The Christmas under construction, that is Daniel Lessing and Jessica Lowndes, which I am so excited. That movie is on Hallmark. I saw it back in 2024 when it was on Hulu.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's right. That's already been out, right? That was yeah. It's really good. It's it's cute. So it's a so it yeah, that'll be out on July 4th. And July 11th is Oh Little Christmas Market. Right. That's the one with Catherine Burrell and Stephen Hoozar. Yes, that's right. And then July 18th is Snowbound for the holidays, starring Vanessa. Is it Lenji's? Lengy's Lenji and Marcus Rosner. And then July 25th is Love Under the Mistletoe.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Starring Jen Lilly and Nick Bateman.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. That one I have not watched yet, but that one was on Hulu too.
SPEAKER_01That was so Hallmark acquired those. Is that how that works? Is that the proper terminology?
SPEAKER_05Yes. And I know Vanessa from Glee. That's where I first saw her. That was my tour. Oh, was she on Glee? Yeah, she was she came in towards the end, like the last few seasons, I think. Yeah. Because they only had seven seasons. And I think probably uh I don't know if it was canceled because of this, or if it was just canceled because you know it had reached its point where it was. Ah, but Corey Monteith did die. Right. So yeah. They probably ended it.
SPEAKER_04Maybe because of that as well. Because I mean it's hard to continue a show without the wait.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Or when something like that happens with a cast member. Yeah. But she I love her in Take Me Home for Christmas. That's one of or Take Me Back for Christmas. Yeah. Yeah. She's so good in that. And we love that movie. That's one of our it's just so sweet.
SPEAKER_03It's so good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So good. All right. So sh shall we get into what we're going to be talking about today? Let's do it. Let's do it.
The Love Heist Setup And Spoilers
SPEAKER_01Today we're going to be reviewing the third summer nights movie of 2026, The Love Heist. It originally aired on the Hallmark channel on Sunday, June 20th, 2026, and stars Lindsay Fonseca as Kaylee and Peter Porte. Am I pronouncing that correctly? I think Peter Porte.
SPEAKER_02Or is it more?
SPEAKER_01We last saw Lindsay in single on the 25th. And Peter's last Hallmark work was in 2023's Notes of Autumn. And you can find the Love Highs streaming right now on Hallmark Plus.
SPEAKER_02Yes. And the Love Highs was written by Holly Ghent and directed by Kevin Fair. This is Holly's Hallmark debut. Yay! Kevin's last Hallmark project was caught by Love, which loved that one too. He has extensive work with Hallmark, including directing One of Our Fays, which is Always Amore. And 11 of the Signed Sealed Delivered Movies. So we got a double whammy of some favorites.
SPEAKER_01Some favorites, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I believe he also directed correct me if I'm wrong, Hallmark East Checking It Twice with Kevin McGarry and Kim Matula. Oh, did he? I think. Oh, cool.
SPEAKER_01He's done a lot. He's got a lot of, yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02He's got a resume. So let's go ahead and drop the synopsis.
SPEAKER_01All right. Celebrity stylist Kaylee must team up with hotel security chief Mills to track down an iconic piece of fashion history after it goes missing on her watch before the Chicago costume gala. But I think in the in the movie they call it the Cosmo Gala.
SPEAKER_02It's Cosmo.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Unless they have an accent, but it sounds like Cosmo to me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was Cosmo.
SPEAKER_02And this is the part of the podcast where we let you know that if you haven't seen the movie yet, turn us off because we're probably gonna drop some spoilers. Probably will. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02So just turn us off, go watch the movie, come back, turn us back on, and let us know what you think down here.
SPEAKER_01Or listen to the review and then go watch the movie and then come back.
SPEAKER_02Awesome.
SPEAKER_01All
First Impressions And Overall Vibe
SPEAKER_01right, so Nicole, we'll start with you. What was your first take of this movie?
SPEAKER_05I really like this movie. I thought it was really cute. I th I thought it was unique while still sticking to the Hallmark formula. Yeah. Yeah. I loved the fashion aspect of it. Yes. Show events.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05I don't know a whole lot about the fashion world.
SPEAKER_01I don't either. I don't you're talking to somebody who doesn't know either, yeah.
SPEAKER_05It was fun. I thought it was a great movie.
SPEAKER_00What about you, Gary?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I thought it was very cute. Uh I I love the chemistry between uh Lindsay and uh Peter. Um the the banter was so so good. And um yeah, the outfits, the the the faux party, yeah, oh the other yeah, all the fashion parties. I just in the supporting cast, I thought the majority of them did a really good job.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So yeah. What about you?
SPEAKER_01Um, I thought it was I thought it was fun and light, and like Nicole said, you know, we're kind of getting a little bit of a twist, I feel like, with a celebrity stylist, yeah, slash, you know fashion designer um of it all. I it was a little hijinksy and the banter was quirky, you know, um, but but lots of funny one-liners, especially from Peter, you know, and and Lindsay, really. But um, I love that we got several near kisses.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So, and the only thing the chemistry I thought was okay. I thought it picked up towards the end, but I felt more of, you know, like a friendship banter at first, and then it it kind of there are a couple scenes where you're kind of like, okay. But yeah. But overall, I just thought it was light and fun. And, you know, even though it's more of a traditional homework formula movie, it it was cute for a summer movie. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02All right.
Meet Cute Ratings And Chemistry
SPEAKER_02So let's talk about the meat cute.
SPEAKER_01All right, let's talk about it. So we're in Chicago. Hello, Chicago. Even though it wasn't filmed there, we know, but yeah. Vancouver. Yeah. And you know, we got the meat cute right out of the gate.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Right at the very beginning. Yeah. So sh so Kaylee pulls up in a taxi, she's getting out, she's getting her luggage, and Mills is like, you can't drive that thing without a Chicago hotel cart license. Ha ha.
SPEAKER_02That was so funny.
SPEAKER_01And it was just so it was like a dad joke, but funny, you know. So it was kind of cute. And then he's like, get it. And she's like, Well, if you have to say get it, it's not funny now. It's so she they played off each other so well, I thought, in that scene. So then she gets pushed by a photographer into him. And he's like, Are you okay? And and she says something about a damsel in distress at your service, which I thought was that was very good. So, so that's that's the setup. So we have our rating system now, decant it, which is the gold standard of meat cues, pour it, which they're strong chemistry, memorable first meeting, sip it, cute enough to enjoy, or cork it, no spark, no butterflies, nada. Move along. So, Nicole, what did you think? What would be your rating?
SPEAKER_05I would say it started as sip it in the beginning, kind of like what you were saying, Amy, and then I think it ended with pour it.
SPEAKER_00I I would agree with that. I I would agree. Yeah, how about you, Gurry?
SPEAKER_02I I agree with both of you, and I I really the one line that Kaylee says when he says you have to have five years experience, she says, Well, I I have four and a half years experience unless you count emotional baggage.
SPEAKER_01Right. That's kind of funny.
SPEAKER_02That's a funny line. Cute and so funny, yeah, yeah. So yeah, I agree with you. Sip and then deport.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it wasn't a chemistry that like blew me away. Right. Right. But it's still great.
SPEAKER_01Right, right. And it was a fun, that was kind of a fun meet cute, too. It's one of the more fun ones, but yeah, I definitely I thought it was cute enough to enjoy.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01All right, so let's get into some favorite scenes.
SPEAKER_02Uh-oh.
Favorite Scenes And Best One Liners
SPEAKER_01Nicole, do you want to lead off with a favorite scene?
SPEAKER_05So I think one of my favorites is well, I guess this can kind of count as two. The two scenes that Mills and Kaylee had at the speakeasy. I really like when they're dancing and they have their own.
SPEAKER_02I know we got our first kiss.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Yes. I don't know if it's just me, but it was kind of ironic that they were talking about Al Capone when we were singing that on my heart.
SPEAKER_01Yes. I thought that was so, so good. Like the timing was impeccable.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was. Yes. It was. Yes. It really was.
SPEAKER_01I I agree with both uh if if you know you combine it, but both the speakeasy scenes were so good. Yeah. So so good.
SPEAKER_02What about you, Amy?
SPEAKER_01Um, one of mine was uh when like at the very beginning, I talked about like it was kind of hijinksy, but it kind of worked where she's push pushing her luggage cart, and she thinks that he's running towards her because she's in trouble for still having the luggage cart, but he's trying to get the drone that's flying, that like a gossip columnist has flown into the hotel.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_01And so he ends up kind of going behind her and he's like, so they crouch down, and then she ends up pushing the cart. He hops on and he ends up falling off and grabbing the drone. And I mean, it was it, I wasn't over the top, yes, you know. But I just thought it was kind of cute and fun. And you know, you can tell right then that the movie's not gonna take itself too seriously, right? Like it's gonna be a little bit lighter, just just sit back and just enjoy it for what it is. That's the way I felt.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was it kind of had that James Bond vibe to it. A little bit, they just needed to play the music, and that would have been so cool.
SPEAKER_01What about you?
SPEAKER_02Um, that was one of mine. Um, another one when they were, I think they were in her room and they were talking about the dating apps in their profiles.
SPEAKER_01I think I didn't, I think I was zoned out on that.
SPEAKER_02Really? Because it was so funny. I can't remember the exact words they said, but they they both played off of each other. Yeah. Hers was like, um, I gosh, I wish I would have written it down, but it it was so cute and so funny.
SPEAKER_01Is that at the very beginning?
SPEAKER_02Very beginning. I think he drops off uh Liz Taylor's uh Elizabeth Taylor's dress. Uh Elizabeth Taylor's uh dress, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And they were talking about dating apps.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that was one.
SPEAKER_01I think I I think I totally missed that to be honest with you. We watched it twice. What about you, Nicole? Do you have any others?
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_02Oh, we lost your sound.
SPEAKER_01I think we lost your sound.
SPEAKER_05Oh, I forgot it was on mute. Sorry, oh, that's all right. That's okay. Yeah. So I also have written down the conversation. This was before the one at this was before the first one at the Speakeasy when she's telling him about why she became a stylist. You know, she's talking about, I think, her grandmother.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_05And then let's see. The conversation that they had when he's sharing about his time in the military was great.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_05Always love a good proposal scene in a Hallmark movie. So Oli Kay's proposal. Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_02When they for the faux party. Yeah. Or you're talking about the gala. Oh, you're talking about at the gala.
SPEAKER_05At the gala. Yeah. Dance between Mills and Kaylee, right before that was great too. It was. And then, of course, the end of the movie when Mills and Kaylee share their feelings for each other. Yes. And we're talking about her.
SPEAKER_01That's so good. I I really liked when he first brings the dress to her room.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01The Elizabeth Taylor dress. And they have just a fun banter because she's like, this is Elizabeth Taylor's dress. And he's like, and you know, he's basically like next. And she's like the actress, you know, and he's still like glaze look over his eyes. I thought, I thought the play on that, because and there was so much of that in this movie about you know, entertainment and icons and things, and he just didn't get it because he just didn't, you know, he's not into that. And she is. So yeah. I thought that that that really worked.
SPEAKER_05Maybe when someone says they don't like sign so delivered. Excuse me, what? Excuse you? Yeah. What do you mean?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Oh my gosh. That could be a gif. Oh, definitely, definitely. Excuse me? Yeah, you should say when someone doesn't like my look, when someone doesn't like sign seal delivery.
SPEAKER_05I think there are gifts out there like that. Probably.
SPEAKER_01But I I also really liked, and um Nicole, you talked about the speakeasy when they were in like the bar. What is it? Like a bar, the speakeasy.
SPEAKER_05Underground, bar, not underground, but like.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It's in the hotel, right? Was it in the hotel? I think so. Yeah, when she's when she's teaching him how to dance, and then they almost kiss, and then the lights come up because one of the guys is like, hey, who's in here? He doesn't realize it's another hotel worker, and he doesn't realize it's uh Mills, right? And Mills is like, oh, we're good, we're good. And then he walks away. And you think in typical Hallmark fashion, they're not gonna kiss because they almost did. They get interrupted, right? And then usually they they go about their lives. But in this one, you know, he's like, if you think I'm gonna let an interruption like that stop me, and then he pulls her in, and I was like, Hallmark, that was good.
SPEAKER_02That was see, they should have saved that one. That was because that was good.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, we got some um some spicy Hallmark kisses last weekend on Hallmark.
SPEAKER_01Mills and Kaylee, and then Elliot and Kat. Like, okay. Yes, yes, Elliot and Kat on the way home. Yes. They were like practically almost making them out. I'm not gonna lie. Who Elliot and Kat or Kaylee and Kat in the reunion, yeah. That was a great yeah. So um, yeah, I just I just love that. I love that Hallmark kind of flipped that on its head. Yeah, and it was a different, a different take on the near kiss, but then not kissing, and they actually did it because that's that's normal life. You would go back to it, right? Like necessarily walk away. So I really like that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was a cute scene. The speakeasy has some really good scenes because when they were sitting down at the bar and he was explaining why he had to retire out of the special forces, he talked about tearing a le uh uh ligament in his knee. But she was like, Are you sure you didn't do the uh risky business dance?
SPEAKER_01That's another reference. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That I mean, she had a lot of them because there was another one in the lounge when and you picked this one out, Amy, about pretty woman and uh mission impossible. And he's kind of like looking at her like, what? And she's like, She's just having a good old time referencing these movies, and he has no clue.
SPEAKER_01Well, she's like big mistake, big, like one of the famous pretty woman, like she's got all the bags in her hands. I mean, it's kind of an iconic scene from that. Yeah, and then she references you're right, Mission Impossible, like your mission should you choose to accept it, and he's like, I don't accept it, you know?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so and then the the one when he was explaining when they were in the store shop, and then he was explaining to her about the Delta Forces, and she was like, Oh wow, and he's like, Oh, you heard about Delta Forces? And she goes, No, I didn't, or I don't.
SPEAKER_01She goes, No, she had no idea.
SPEAKER_02She actually did that a couple times. Yeah, it's so on point and cute.
SPEAKER_01So all right, any other favorite scenes that you want to mention? No, I think I heard about there.
SPEAKER_02I think that was it.
SPEAKER_01Okay. All right. So
Wait What Moments And Plot Swerves
SPEAKER_01let's go on to the Wait What award. This is one that now generally, you know, we have to suspend disbelief for Hallmark movies sometimes, right? But this might be something that might be a little bit over the top, or maybe it was an editing error, or something that just didn't quite work. Do you did you have any, Nicole? Um gosh.
SPEAKER_05I can't think of any that really like stuck out. But there was one moment I was like, okay. And it was when she was in Matilda's. Uh-huh. I think the first time. And she was asking the Matilda for help. Yeah. And she goes to her show. And then the second time she realizes the second time that Kaylee goes to the shop with Mills.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05The woman says, Oh, I can just play it whenever I want. I was like, What?
SPEAKER_01What? Yeah, because she she made a big deal about watching her stories the first time, right? At a certain time. She's like, Oh, my stories are on, or whatever. Yeah. So, yeah. Maybe that. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and I was like, who calls it stories anymore? Like, I mean, I know, you know, like we're our age, we remember soap operas and all that, you know. And I guess they did used to call it my stories are on. So I didn't even know that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We're we're of that age where we would yeah, I used to watch soap operas in my time.
SPEAKER_05But they still come on. My when they when I'm at my grandmother's house and she'll be watching um like those daytime game shows. I think what is it, Wheel of Fortune? Not no. Is it Wheel of Fortune? I think the one that I don't know what's on during the day anymore. And then Deal or No Deal, and then the soap operas are will come on.
SPEAKER_01Are they still on now? Oh, okay. I didn't know any were still she's like, you can turn that off. We're still on. Well, I guess Days of Our Lives is still on, right? Because doesn't isn't Alison Sweeney in that? General Hospital, I think, is still going. Yeah. I think Peter Porte was in Days of Our Lives or is in Days of Our Lives.
SPEAKER_02Well, isn't uh Jonathan Bennett? He's gonna be in the soap.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Was it General Hospital?
SPEAKER_05I think it's General Hospital. Yeah, yeah. On uh General Hospital again, I think. Who is? I think Jack Wagner just recently did. Oh, he did, yeah, because he was on General Hospital. Yeah. Like he came back to the show, I guess, a year or two ago.
SPEAKER_01To be honest, yeah. I forget that those are still on. Yeah. I used to watch All My Children, so that was my that was my so far. Yes, he was. Yes, he was. He and Green. He's great. Yeah. All right, Gary, what about you? Any wait what?
SPEAKER_02Yes. So my wait what is when they were at the party where Ollie Kay was proposing to uh Rainy Jean, and the ring gets stolen, and she chases the culprit outside, and Mills goes to tackle him, and the ring goes flying, and then she jumps dove on the asphalt and catches the ring. And I'm thinking, owl.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Owl? That would really hurt.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, and then when she stands up, her dress is fine.
SPEAKER_02Her dress is fine. She has she has no cuts on her arm or anything.
SPEAKER_01She's totally fine. Totally fine. Dress is fine. She's fine. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Not a hair out of place. Makeup perfect.
SPEAKER_01That was definitely one of my way. What? She got up. Yeah. She dives. And again, I think that's part of it saying, Don't take me so seriously.
SPEAKER_02No, I I know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But it's no, but I had that, yeah. I I had that down too as one.
SPEAKER_02Because it because it's funny, because like I I tripped the other day and fell on our patio, and I got two uh like strawberries on my knees, and I'm thinking, ow. And then when I saw that scene, I was like, She didn't get anything. Come on.
SPEAKER_01Oh gosh. What about you?
SPEAKER_02Did you have one?
SPEAKER_01Uh well, I had that one, and then I had written a couple other down in case you know someone said that one. But um, it just I felt like Celine leaving last minute for her son's wedding. I felt like well, yeah, he was gonna he was gonna elope. I mean, I kind of get it, you know, and she's gonna go, but she totally leaves like a gala. You know, I just felt like would you really do that? I don't know. What I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02I know it'd be nerve-wracking for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Man.
SPEAKER_01All right, let's get into some cheers and jeers.
Cheers, Jeers, And Theme Takeaways
SPEAKER_01So, some cheers from you, Nicole, about the love heist.
SPEAKER_05Um the comedy, so all the jokes. I think this is one of the funniest movies that Peter has done. And I think I even remember him saying that in an interview before this. Oh, really? Oh, cool. Yeah. It might have been with my friend Katherine from romcom love podcast.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_05Oh, when she interviewed him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there was to go listen to that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and then I think there was some strong character development, especially between Mills and Kaylee, or Peter and Lindsay.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_05And I just love the theme of this movie of you know, career ambition, creative independence, and finding that healthy work life balance.
SPEAKER_04Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They talked about that, especially in the very last scene. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I agree.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think that and really, you know, about perception, you you know, for Kaylee, she had worried that she had ruined the one actress's life forever, you know, and carried that with her instead of really finding out that, yeah, it kind of what happened, the incident where, you know, the dress that Kaylee put her in where she blended invisible. That you know, it really she had like a downfall for a little bit, but then she ended up getting a role and she ended up getting like an award for it or whatever. So it kind of was a And she met her husband. And then she met her husband. And so, but Kaylee carried that around, and it's so hard. And I think that's such an important message, too, to kind of tack onto what you said, Nicole, and that you know, it's hard to let things go, but you have to because she was carrying it for and it turned out not to be true, you know. Yeah, that like our internal dialogue is always so much worse, you know, yeah, towards ourselves, usually. And so yeah. Anything else?
SPEAKER_02Um, I I would No from Nicole.
SPEAKER_01I meant Nicole. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02I I'm jumping over you there.
SPEAKER_01No, you're fine, you're fine.
SPEAKER_05I meant I should have said Nicole. Any other cheers? I think I would say the costumes, even though I probably wouldn't wear a lot of you know what was shown for fashion, you know, runway shows. Yeah, I would wear probably some of the stuff that Kaylee wore. Like the wardrobe, which is great.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, I thought it was really cute. Her stuff was really cute. Yeah. And the dresses, yeah. I mean, you can appreciate them without wait, yeah, like you said.
SPEAKER_05Like the um the first outfit that Kaylee redid for the Rinnie?
SPEAKER_02Rinnie Jean.
SPEAKER_05Rinnie Jean? Yeah, Rinnie Jean. Like the jumpsuit. Look, I would never wear that.
SPEAKER_01No. But it looked cute on her. It looked really cute on her, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Not me. But it was cute. She she yeah, she looked right in that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, she did. That that brings me to one of the things that he had said when he wanted to take her downstairs for a drink while they kind of the two other hotel security were gonna sweep a room. She says, I can't go down there. I'm in my lounge, my lounge clothing. And he goes, That's your lounge clothing? I thought that was your everyday clothing.
SPEAKER_01Well, he's like, That's different from your that's different from your everyday clothing.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02I thought that was a cute thing, too.
SPEAKER_01There were just a lot of good one-liners and the banter between them.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What about you, Gary? Cheers.
SPEAKER_02Um, just I loved how he was always lifting her up. I I loved how her stylist, her hair person, um, always lifted her up. You know, it's like she was surrounded by some great people giving her some great advice. And um, you know, just that he was he was a Delta Force, you know, special forces, but yet he had the heart of a, you know, he just heart of bowl. Heart of gold, yeah. So that was my cheer.
SPEAKER_00That was your cheer.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, I really I I mean, I just like I said at the beginning, I thought it was light, I thought it was fun, I thought the banter was cute. Um, you know, the hijinxy stuff I kind of got on board with a little bit just when I, you know, was like, I'm just gonna go with it, you know. I liked that they had her boss be supportive too. It wasn't like this woman boss that was really mean to her assistant or anything. It was just a a kind and she was encouraging to her too. Yeah. You know, she was trying to push her to have more fun and get outside of her comfort zone. So I appreciated that. Um, I really liked the ending because Kaylee ends up taking the job with the with Rinnie Jean and they're gonna travel. And then because a lot of times they'll say, No, no, you know, I can't go. Because, you know, and then they realize they're in love and they're gonna stay. But she's she actually takes the leap to go, and then you find out he's going too with security. And I just I thought that was different for homework to end it that way. Yeah, you know, or instead of her saying she'll go and then go, Oh, you know what? I can't go, you know.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_01I have to stay. So I I liked I liked that also. I and the Elizabeth Taylor dress, I had to look it up. And Elizabeth Taylor really did wear a violet-colored dress to the 1970 Academy Awards, and it looks very similar to what they did. Now, I presume they couldn't imitate it exactly because there's probably rights and stuff to that design. Um, but they were pretty close. They were pretty, pretty close. So I thought that that was pretty cool. They stayed kind of close to that. Yeah. Yeah. Now the other things that were in there that were supposed to be Dolly Parton's something, I I didn't look that stuff up. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_05But uh, I just remembered. Kind of a little bit random, but I thought I would bring it up. So for all the parties out there now You both have not gotten to this season of When Calls the Heart, so I won't say her character is. Oh, well, okay, so Cecilia Deakin, she played uh I can't remember her character. The one that Kaylee was kind of trying to get away from in a couple scenes, like hiding from Thorpe. Thorpe. Thorpe, yes. Thorpe. Yes, Vivian Thorpe. So she comes in on Wind Calls the Heart in season 11.
SPEAKER_01She does. Oh, that's so cool. So she's a Hallmark. I mean, she's been on Hallmark then. Yeah. Her character is Jeanette.
SPEAKER_02Oh it's French. Oh. I wouldn't have been able to pronounce it.
SPEAKER_05I won't spoil it because it's kind of hard to explain her story. But she's she has a connection to Lucas, played by Chris McNally. And you'll find that out as you watch the rest of that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah. That's a fun fact. Yeah, it didn't. That's that's great. And she's been in other movies in Science Sealed.
SPEAKER_05She was in Science Sealed. Yeah, she was in Home Again. So the um Wait have we watched Home Again yet? Oh no, y'all have not gotten to that one.
SPEAKER_04Actually, that was next.
SPEAKER_01That was next for us, right? Yeah. So she's in that one. That's so cool that she's in that one. We're almost to that one.
SPEAKER_05So she plays um when you see her on screen, you'll you'll recognize her. She's younger, but uh weren't we all 10 years ago, right?
SPEAKER_01And I don't mean that in a negative way. No, no, no. I know you don't mean it negatively. Let's see.
SPEAKER_05She plays. I'm looking it up right here. Let's see. She plays young uh young great-grandma Betty who like goes off to war.
SPEAKER_01There's a scene. Oh, so it's one of those where there are scenes from a previous decade or whatever you see that.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it's okay, okay. And there's a scene in that movie where there's a like bus that I think is either pulling up or pulling away. I think it's pulling up and then she gets off the bus, I think.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that's so cool. Yeah, we'll have to look for that. She does a great job.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she's looking out there. Yeah. I thought I would bring that up. That's cool, yeah. All right, uh, any jeers from anybody? Nicole, did you have any things that didn't work?
SPEAKER_05Maybe didn't I can't think of anything that didn't work. Maybe, you know, just the um the weight what's that we were talking about, you know, if with you know her catching the ring and just perfect. You know, but other than that, jeers, mm-mm. I mean, the the boss caught me by surprise. So Mills is boss, I think.
SPEAKER_01Oh what?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Were you surprised that he was the one that took the dress? Yeah. So not necessarily a jeer, but like what? But you were surprised, yeah. No, I mean that's a good you were surprised by the ending. That's a good thing. You didn't know who it was gonna be.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was too nice. Something was up. Something was up.
SPEAKER_01I should have caught it sooner. Uh I didn't. I I never catch those things.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow.
SPEAKER_01All right, Gary, what about you? Any jeers?
SPEAKER_02Um, the only jeer I had was some of the lighting. Um, where when they were doing back and forth conversation, that when the camera panned on one, they were wear well lit, but then when they panned on the other one from the other angle, they were like kind of dark. I don't know if that's the the shot they were going for or the effect, but there was a lot of that going on in this movie where one of them was really dark and the other one was lit really well.
SPEAKER_01When Kaylee and Mills were together, is it their scenes together?
SPEAKER_02Right. That was it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But that could have been the effect they were going for, so yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So what about you? Did you have any?
SPEAKER_01Um, not really, except the chemistry. Uh that would be the only thing that I would say. Uh, like we talked about earlier. You know, I didn't think it was totally there, but then you had these scenes towards the end or you know, like the middle and the that you're like, oh, all right. You know, they kind of worked, they were just kind of thrown in and they worked, but I just I you know the chemistry was a little bit off, but it was still, you know, still a fun movie and enjoyable to watch. I just didn't think the chemistry was totally there.
SPEAKER_03Right. So yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. All right.
Cork Rating And 2026 Hallmark Picks
SPEAKER_01So out of five corks, how many would you give it?
SPEAKER_04I would say maybe three and a half. Which is still good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Three is good. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's funny because that's where I was at.
SPEAKER_01That's where I'm at.
SPEAKER_02So we are all right.
SPEAKER_01We are like, we are all three.
SPEAKER_02That's awesome.
SPEAKER_01Three and a half. I did not change my mind. I went into this going, I'm gonna go three and a half.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. That's that's what Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I thought it was enjoyable. I don't regret the hour and a half I spent watching it, you know. Like I didn't walk away going, Oh man, what a bummer, you know. No, I mean, I thought it was enjoyable, I thought it was light. Peter, you know, like you said, I I thought there were funny moments, you know. There might have just been that spark that was missing, you know. I I I'm not really sure, but um, but yeah, three and a half is solid.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. Do y'all have uh any or what have been some of your favorite movies, Sejir from Hallmark for 2026? Uh The Way to You.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I still need to watch that one. The Way to You and Content Roses. Oh, that one's really good. Yes.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, what about you? So for me, I have I think Two for Tea is number one. Kentucky Roses is number two. I'll be seeing you to Philly with love.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I'll be seeing you is so good too. Yeah. To Philly with Love. I know they've really had a great season, I think, of 2026 so far.
SPEAKER_05There's been a couple duds. Yeah. Um, Melbourne Matched, Lost in Paradise, Love on the Amazon, and let's see. Oh, Missing the Boat was really good. That was one of the things. Yeah, that was really good.
SPEAKER_01And what we really enjoyed Lost in Paradise, too.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That was the first one. That was the first 2026 movie, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02That was fun. That was different too.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I would say my least favorite of the year so far is Love on the Amazon. That one just kind of felt like it just didn't, just didn't uh I mean the scenery was beautiful.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. What was the one? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I've probably got a couple towards the bottom, but I won't say that.
SPEAKER_02Uh oh gosh.
SPEAKER_01But but overall, they've had a really strong 2026. Yeah. And mystery-wise, I'd say true justice. Yeah, those were really that was really good. Or we've had two. Have we had two so far? Or one? Well, just one this year.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Just one this year. There was another one, right? Right.
SPEAKER_05I think two years ago. Yeah. Two or three years ago. I still haven't seen the nailing nose, maybe.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it's so cute. Oh my gosh. And you, yes. Pascal Hunt and on uh Kevin Smith. Oh, it's so cute. I love them together. So cute. Yes. Yeah, they really are. It's yeah. I forgot. I forgot we had those mysteries too.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, I I kind of liked Key to Key to the Castle. Oh, I still have that that one was cute. And because I'm all in about uh ghosts and stuff like that. So that one was fun. And that was a good mystery because it kept you guessing on on who it was.
SPEAKER_01I'll try to watch it soon. But don't say who it was. Don't say who it was.
SPEAKER_02Nope, nope. Yeah. And I and I love a murder board.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we love a suspect board.
SPEAKER_02And hers is very unique.
SPEAKER_05Yes. So yeah, and the director is great, Linda Lisa Hayter. Of course, she's science. Oh, does she do like the last few of Science? Yeah, she's done the last few. She's done uh three letters and then to the moon and back.
SPEAKER_00Very cool. Very cool.
SPEAKER_02And we're ready for another one.
SPEAKER_01We are. The way to you and more postables. More the way home. More the way home. The way to you. I meant the way home. Yes, you're right. I got the way. I got the way of my raid. The way home. Sorry.
SPEAKER_02Oh no. So many.
SPEAKER_01That's right. That's right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So is that it?
SPEAKER_01Is that a wrap?
SPEAKER_02That's a wrap.
